5. Setup and Assembly
5.1 Assembly
The Mellif snow shovel is designed for quick and easy assembly. Simply connect the handle pieces and tighten them by hand. Ensure all connections are secure before use.

5.2 Battery Installation and Charging
Insert the Mellif 4.0 Ah battery into the designated slot on the handle unit until it clicks into place. To charge the battery, connect it to the provided Mellif 4.0 Rapid Charger. The charger will indicate when the battery is fully charged.

The Mellif snow shovel is compatible with Makita 18V batteries. If using a Makita battery, ensure it is fully charged using a Makita-compatible charger. Note that the included Mellif battery may not be compatible with Makita chargers.
5.3 Handle and Deflector Adjustment
Adjust the assist handle to a comfortable position for optimal balance and reduced strain during operation. The snow deflector can be adjusted ±30° to control the direction of snow discharge. This adjustment is typically made via a lever or knob on the deflector unit.

6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Starting and Stopping
To start the snow shovel, ensure the battery is installed and fully charged. Press the safety button (usually located on the main handle) and then squeeze the trigger. To stop, release the trigger.

6.2 Snow Clearing Techniques
- For optimal performance, clear snow in passes up to 12 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
- For deeper or wet, heavy snow, it may be necessary to make multiple passes or reduce the width of each pass.
- Adjust the deflector to throw snow away from cleared areas or desired locations.
- Avoid pushing the unit too hard into deep snow, as this can reduce efficiency and strain the motor.
- Be mindful of the throwing distance (up to 17 feet) to avoid throwing snow onto unwanted areas.

7. Maintenance
