4. Product Overview

The FIRElood LH55-T2-NS2 is a versatile pyrography tool designed for precision and control. The main unit features a digital temperature display and a rotary knob for adjusting the heat from 200℃ to 750℃ (392°F to 1382°F). It operates on 110V power.

A key feature is its dual-port design, allowing two wood burning pens to be connected simultaneously. This enables quick switching between different pen tips or techniques without needing to cool down and change tips on a single pen. Each port can operate independently, sharing the same thermostat and temperature display.

The kit includes two types of wood burning pens: one with a metal wire tip for fine lines and intricate details, and another with a solid copper tip for rendering color depth and larger color blocks. A total of 36 interchangeable pyrography pen heads are provided, offering a wide range of shapes and functions for various artistic effects.

5. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Placement: Place the main wood burning unit on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface in a well-ventilated area.
  3. Pen Connection: Connect the desired wood burning pen(s) to the output ports (A or B) on the front of the main unit. Ensure the connection is secure.
  4. Tip Installation: Using the provided screwdriver, carefully loosen the screws on the pen head to insert the desired pyrography tip. Tighten the screws securely to ensure good electrical contact and prevent the tip from falling out during use.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into the main unit and then into a standard 110V electrical outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Flip the power switch on the main unit to the 'ON' position. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Temperature Adjustment: Turn the rotary knob to set the desired temperature. The digital display will show the current temperature, which will gradually increase until it reaches the set value. The temperature range is 200℃ to 750℃.
  3. Pre-heating: Allow the pen tip to heat up for a few minutes until it reaches the set temperature.
  4. Testing: Before working on your main project, test the pen on a scrap piece of the same material to observe the burning effect at the chosen temperature. Adjust the temperature as needed.
  5. Pyrography Techniques:
    • Lines: Use the metal wire tips for fine lines, outlines, and intricate details. Vary pressure and speed to achieve different line thicknesses and darkness.
    • Shading/Color Blocks: Use the solid copper tips for broader strokes, shading, and filling in larger areas. Lower temperatures and lighter pressure create lighter shades, while higher temperatures and slower movements create darker tones.
    • Scraping: The carving pen can be used to scrape away darker burnt areas, reducing color depth and increasing brightness for highlights.
  6. Material Compatibility: This wood burning kit is suitable for various materials including paper, gourds, wood, leather, leaves, bark, straw, eggshells, and deer antlers.
  7. Power Off: When finished, turn the power switch to 'OFF' and unplug the device. Allow the pen tips to cool completely before handling or storing.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Pen Tips: Always clean pen tips when they are hot. Use the provided sponge, lightly dampened with water, to gently wipe off carbon buildup. Ensure the sponge is not dripping wet to avoid electrical hazards.
  • Storage: Store the wood burning kit and all accessories in a dry, safe place away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord, pens, and tips for any signs of wear or damage. Replace damaged components immediately.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Turning On: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and the electrical outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
  • Pen Not Heating: Verify that the pen is securely connected to the main unit. Check if the pen tip is properly installed and the screws are tightened. Ensure the temperature is set above the ambient temperature.
  • Inconsistent Burning: This may be due to an improperly installed tip, insufficient temperature, or carbon buildup on the tip. Re-install the tip, adjust the temperature, or clean the tip as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Excessive Smoke: Ensure you are working in a well-ventilated area. Excessive smoke can also indicate that the temperature is too high for the material being used, or that the material itself is not suitable for pyrography.
