3. Setup

1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
2. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the device and then into an electrical outlet. The device is designed for corded use.

3. Prepare Skin: Shave the area to be treated. The IPL device works most effectively on clean, shaven skin. Do not wax or epilate, as the hair follicle needs to be present for the light to target.
4. Perform Skin Test: Before your first full treatment, perform a skin patch test on a small area of skin you intend to treat. Follow the operating instructions for a single flash, then wait 24-48 hours to check for any adverse reactions.

4. Operating Instructions

1. Turn On: Plug in the device. The indicator lights will illuminate.
2. Select Precision Head: Choose the appropriate precision head for the area you are treating. Use smaller heads for delicate or hard-to-reach areas like the face or bikini line, and larger heads for broader areas like legs.
3. Skin Tone Adaptation (SensoAdapt™): The Braun Silk-Expert Pro PL5356 features SensoAdapt™ technology, which automatically reads your skin tone 80 times per second and adjusts the light intensity to the optimal level for safe and effective treatment. You will see indicator lights on the side of the device showing the detected intensity level (1 to 10).

4. Application Modes:
   • Gliding Mode: For larger areas like legs, hold the flash button down and glide the device slowly and continuously over your skin.
   • Stamping Mode: For smaller or bony areas like knees, ankles, or the bikini line, place the device on your skin, press and release the flash button, then lift and move to the next adjacent area.
5. Treatment Schedule: For optimal results, use the device once a week for the first 4-12 weeks. After this initial phase, continue treatments as needed, typically once every 1-2 months, to maintain smooth skin. Visible hair reduction can be observed in as little as 3 weeks.
6. Treatment Areas: The device is suitable for use on the body, face, and bikini area. Always use the appropriate precision head for each area.

5. Maintenance

1. Cleaning: After each use, ensure the device is unplugged. Wipe the flash window and the exterior of the device with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
2. Storage: Store the device and its accessories in the provided storage pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

6. Troubleshooting

• Device Not Flashing:
  • Ensure the device is properly plugged into a power outlet.
  • Make sure the flash window is fully in contact with your skin. The device has a skin contact sensor that prevents flashing if not properly positioned.
  • Check the skin tone indicator lights. If no lights are illuminated or a red light appears, your skin tone may be too dark for safe treatment in that area.
• Skin Irritation:
  • Mild redness or tingling after treatment is normal and should subside quickly.
  • If irritation persists or is severe, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional. Ensure you are not treating areas with contraindications.
• Device Overheating: If the device becomes excessively warm, it may temporarily stop flashing. Allow it to cool down for a few minutes before resuming use.
