3. Getting Started and Setup

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully unpack your UB-Xa D and check for any signs of damage. Retain the original packaging for future transport or storage.

3.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied power adapter to the DC input on the rear panel of the UB-Xa D, then plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.

3.3 Audio Connections

The UB-Xa D features stereo audio outputs. Connect the LEFT/MONO and RIGHT outputs to your mixer, audio interface, or amplifier using standard 1/4" TS cables.

3.4 MIDI and USB Connections

For MIDI control, connect a MIDI cable from your MIDI controller's MIDI OUT to the UB-Xa D's MIDI IN. For computer connectivity and MIDI over USB, connect a USB cable from the UB-Xa D's USB port to your computer.

5.1 Basic Sound Creation

To begin creating sounds, ensure the UB-Xa D is powered on. Adjust the OSCILLATORS section to select waveforms and tune the oscillators. Use the FILTER section to shape the timbre, and the ENVELOPES section to control the dynamics of the sound.

5.2 Using Presets

The UB-Xa D comes with factory presets and allows for user-defined presets. Use the PRESET VALUE knob and SELECT button in the PROGRAMMER section to browse and load presets. To save a new sound, press the WRITE button and follow the on-screen prompts.

5.3 Modulation

The MODULATION section allows for complex sound design. Utilize the LFOs (Low Frequency Oscillators) to modulate parameters such as pitch, filter cutoff, and pulse width, adding movement and character to your sounds.

5.4 Arpeggiator

Activate the ARPEGGIATOR by pressing the ARP ON button. Adjust the tempo, mode, and octave range to create various arpeggiated patterns from held notes or chords.
