Operating Instructions

Tri-Mode Connection

The AULA F99 supports three connection methods: Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz wireless, and USB-C wired. You can connect to up to five devices simultaneously and switch between them easily.

  1. USB-C Wired Mode: Connect the USB-C cable from the keyboard to your computer. The keyboard will automatically switch to wired mode.
  2. 2.4GHz Wireless Mode:
    • Locate the 2.4GHz USB dongle, usually stored in a compartment on the keyboard.
    • Plug the USB dongle into an available USB port on your computer.
    • Switch the mode selector on the keyboard to "2.4G". The keyboard should connect automatically.
  3. Bluetooth 5.0 Mode:
    • Switch the mode selector on the keyboard to "BT".
    • On your device (PC, tablet, smartphone), enable Bluetooth and search for new devices.
    • Select "AULA F99" from the list of available devices to pair.
    • To switch between paired Bluetooth devices (up to 3), use the FN key combined with specific keys (refer to the keyboard's keycap legends for specific Bluetooth channel assignments, e.g., FN+Q, FN+W, FN+E).

Backlight Settings

The AULA F99 features customizable RGB backlighting with 16 lighting effects. You can cycle through different lighting modes and adjust brightness directly on the keyboard. For advanced customization, including 16.8 million light colors and music rhythm lighting effects, please install the official AULA driver software from the manufacturer's website.

Macro Customization

All keys on the AULA F99 support macro customization. This allows you to record and edit macros, assigning complex sequences of commands to a single key. This feature is particularly useful for gaming and productivity. Macro customization requires the official AULA driver software.

Hot-Swappable Switches and Keycaps

The AULA F99 is designed with a hot-swappable PCB, allowing you to easily replace 3-pin or 5-pin mechanical switches without soldering. The keycaps can also be freely replaced. A keycap/switch puller is included in the package for your convenience.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Keyboard

To maintain optimal performance and appearance, regularly clean your keyboard. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution. For dust and debris between keycaps, use compressed air. For deeper cleaning, keycaps can be removed using the provided keycap puller and cleaned separately.

Replacing Switches and Keycaps

Thanks to the hot-swappable design, replacing switches or keycaps is straightforward:

  1. Keycap Removal: Use the keycap puller to gently grip the keycap and pull straight up.
  2. Switch Removal: After removing the keycap, use the switch puller to grasp the switch firmly. Apply gentle pressure and pull the switch straight up from the PCB.
  3. Installation: Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB and press down firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure the switch is seated correctly and not bent. Then, press the keycap onto the switch stem until secure.

Troubleshooting

  • Keyboard not responding:
    • Ensure the keyboard is charged.
    • Check the connection mode (wired, 2.4G, BT) matches your device.
    • For 2.4G, ensure the USB dongle is properly inserted.
    • For Bluetooth, ensure it's paired correctly and selected on your device. Try re-pairing.
    • Try connecting via USB-C cable to rule out wireless issues.
  • Keys not registering or double-typing:
    • This could indicate a faulty switch. Utilize the hot-swappable feature to replace the problematic switch with one of the included extra switches or a new compatible switch.
    • Ensure the switch is fully seated in the PCB.
  • Backlight not working or inconsistent:
    • Check keyboard brightness settings.
    • Ensure the keyboard is not in a low-power state (charge if necessary).
    • If using the driver, ensure it's updated and settings are applied correctly.
  • Bluetooth pairing issues:
    • Ensure the keyboard is in Bluetooth pairing mode.
    • Remove "AULA F99" from your device's Bluetooth list and try pairing again.
    • Ensure your device's Bluetooth is enabled and discoverable.
