  • Always ensure the coop is assembled on a level and stable surface to prevent tipping.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, such as gloves, during assembly to prevent cuts or pinches from metal components and wire mesh.
  • Regularly inspect the structure for any loose parts, damaged mesh, or wear on the cover. Repair or replace components as needed to maintain security and integrity.
  • Ensure all doors and latches are securely closed to prevent animals from escaping and to deter predators.
  • Do not allow children to play unsupervised near or inside the chicken coop.
  • For enhanced security against predators, consider reinforcing the base with additional materials like wood or stone, and adding extra wire mesh.

3. Package Contents

4. Assembly Instructions

Assembly typically requires two people. Follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the included manual. The process involves connecting the galvanized steel frame pipes, attaching the wire mesh, and securing the protective cover.

  1. Frame Assembly: Connect the galvanized steel pipes to form the main structure. The pipes are designed to snap together easily. A rubber mallet may be useful for securing tighter connections.
  2. Door Assembly: Assemble the double door frame and attach the latch mechanism. Ensure the door is square within its frame for proper function and security.
  3. Wire Mesh Installation: Unroll the hexagonal wire mesh and attach it to the frame using the provided zip ties. Start with the sides and top, ensuring the mesh is taut and securely fastened to prevent gaps. For optimal predator protection, consider using heavier gauge hardware cloth (not included) or reinforcing the provided mesh.
  4. Cover Installation: Drape the waterproof and UV-resistant PE tarp cover over the top section of the coop. Secure it firmly to the frame using the attached straps or additional zip ties. Ensure the angled roof design is maintained to prevent water accumulation.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Regularly clean the interior of the coop to maintain hygiene for your animals. Remove waste and soiled bedding as needed.
  • Frame Inspection: Periodically check all frame connections for tightness and rust. Tighten any loose bolts and address rust spots with appropriate treatment to prolong the coop's lifespan.
  • Mesh Inspection: Inspect the wire mesh for any damage, tears, or weak points that could allow animals to escape or predators to enter. Repair or reinforce as necessary.
  • Cover Care: Clean the waterproof cover with mild soap and water. Ensure it is securely attached, especially during windy conditions. Replace the cover if it becomes significantly damaged or loses its waterproof properties.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 Predator Protection

While the coop provides a secure enclosure, determined predators may attempt to breach it. Consider these additional measures:

  • Reinforce Base: Bury the bottom edge of the wire mesh or secure it to a wooden or concrete perimeter to prevent digging predators.
  • Upgrade Mesh: For areas with high predator activity, replace the provided hexagonal wire mesh with heavier gauge hardware cloth (1/2 inch or 1/4 inch openings) for increased resistance to chewing and tearing.
  • Secure Fasteners: Use UV-resistant heavy-duty zip ties or metal clips to secure the mesh to the frame, ensuring no gaps.

7.2 Stability Issues

If the coop feels unstable:

  • Check Connections: Re-examine all frame connections to ensure they are fully seated and secure.
  • Level Ground: Verify that the coop is placed on a completely level surface. Uneven ground can compromise stability.
  • Anchor Points: Use ground stakes or anchor the coop to the ground, especially in windy areas, to prevent movement.
