4.1 Making Espresso

  1. Preheat: Ensure the machine is powered on and has completed its preheating cycle. The LCD display will show the target temperature.
  2. Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket (single or double shot) into the 58mm portafilter.
  3. Grind Coffee: Grind fresh coffee beans to a fine espresso grind. For the single shot filter, use 8-14g of coffee. For the double shot filter, use 16-20g.
  4. Dose and Tamp: Add the ground coffee to the filter basket. Distribute evenly and tamp firmly with the included tamper.

  2. Activate Steam: Turn the steam knob to the steam position. The machine will heat up to steam temperature (257°F~302°F).
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Once steam is ready, briefly open the steam knob to release any condensed water. Close the knob.
  4. Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam knob fully. Angle the pitcher to create a swirling motion.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard the coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under hot water. Use the included brush to clean any residue.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Briefly purge steam to clear any milk blockages. The detachable design allows for thorough cleaning.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the indicator floats up.
  • Water Tank: Rinse the water tank regularly and refill with fresh water.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

5.2 Descaling

Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up in the machine's internal components, affecting performance. Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on water hardness and usage (e.g., every 2-3 months).

  1. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution and water mixture.
  3. Run the solution through the group head and steam wand as if brewing coffee and frothing milk, without using coffee.
  4. Rinse the machine thoroughly by running several cycles with fresh water after descaling to remove any residual solution.
