2. Important Safety Information

3. Setup

- Charcoal Water Filter: Your coffeemaker includes a charcoal water filter. Remove the filter from its polybag and soak it in cold tap water for 15 minutes. Insert the filter into the filter holder and place it into the water reservoir.

4. Operating Instructions

- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the top lid and fill the water reservoir with cold, fresh water to your desired level, up to the 14-cup mark. The front-fill water reservoir design makes this easy.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the permanent gold-tone filter or a paper filter into the filter basket. Add your desired amount of ground coffee. For best results, use 1 scoop (provided) per cup.
- Select Brew Strength: Use the control panel to select your preferred brew strength: Regular, Bold, or Over Ice.
- 1-4 Cup Setting: If brewing 1 to 4 cups, press the '1-4 CUP' button for optimized flavor extraction for smaller batches.
- Program Brew Time (Optional): To program a delayed brew, press the 'PROG' button and use the 'HR' and 'MIN' buttons to set your desired start time.
- Start Brewing: Press the 'BREW ON/OFF AUTO OFF' button to begin the brewing cycle. The coffeemaker will automatically turn off after a set period, which can be extended using the '+30' button.
- Brew Pause: The Brew Pause feature allows you to temporarily stop the flow of coffee from the basket to pour a cup before the brewing cycle is complete. Simply remove the carafe, and the flow will stop. Return the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.

5. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your coffeemaker.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, wash the glass carafe and its lid, and the filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the coffeemaker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Charcoal Water Filter Replacement: The charcoal water filter should be replaced approximately every 60 days or after 60 uses, more often if you have hard water. Refer to the filter packaging for specific instructions.
- Decalcification: Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffeemaker and affect its performance. The 'CLEAN' indicator will illuminate when it's time to decalcify. To decalcify, fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water. Press the 'CLEAN' button. The coffeemaker will run a special cleaning cycle. After the cycle, run 2-3 cycles with fresh cold water to rinse thoroughly.
