Operating Instructions

To operate the MASKO Trailer Lock:

  • Locking: After placing the trailer lock unit and hinge system, insert the discus lock and turn the key clockwise until it clicks into place. Remove the key.
  • Unlocking: Insert the key into the discus lock and turn it counter-clockwise to release the shackle. Remove the discus lock, then detach the trailer lock unit from the trailer coupling.

Always ensure the lock is fully engaged before leaving your trailer unattended.

Maintenance

The MASKO Trailer Lock is constructed from durable, weather-resistant materials to minimize maintenance. To ensure long-lasting performance:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the lock with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the E-coating.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based spray to the discus lock mechanism annually, or as needed, to ensure smooth operation.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the lock for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Ensure all moving parts operate freely.

The E-coating provides 100% dirt and waterproof protection, preventing rust and ensuring functionality in various weather conditions.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your MASKO Trailer Lock, consider the following:

  • Key Difficult to Turn: Ensure the key is fully inserted. Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the keyhole and try again. Do not force the key.
  • Lock Mechanism Sticking: Clean the discus lock and apply lubricant as described in the Maintenance section. Check for any debris obstructing the mechanism.
  • Lock Not Fitting Properly: Ensure the trailer coupling is clean and free of obstructions. Verify that the trailer lock unit is correctly positioned over the coupling before attempting to insert the discus lock.
  • Lost Keys: Keep spare keys in a secure location. If all keys are lost, you may need to contact a professional locksmith or the manufacturer for assistance.
