4. Installation and Setup

  1. Preparation: Ensure your range hood is turned off and disconnected from power before attempting installation.
  2. Remove Old Filter: Locate the existing grease filter(s) in your range hood. Typically, there will be a latch or handle to release the filter. Carefully unlatch and remove the old filter.
  3. Unpack New Filter: Remove the new AIR2GO Metal Grease Filter from its packaging. Important: If the filter frame has a blue protective film, remove it before installation. This film can be easier to remove after gentle heating (e.g., with a hairdryer or by placing it in an oven at 60°C for a short period).
  4. Insert New Filter: Align the new filter with the designated slots or grooves in the range hood. Push the filter into place until it clicks securely, ensuring the release tab is accessible.
  5. Verify Installation: Gently tug on the filter to ensure it is firmly seated and will not fall during operation.

5. Operation

Once installed, the metal grease filter operates passively as part of your range hood's ventilation system. It captures grease and oil particles from cooking fumes as air passes through it, preventing them from accumulating in the fan motor and ductwork. No specific user interaction is required during operation, beyond ensuring the range hood itself is functioning correctly.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning of your metal grease filter is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and longevity of your range hood. Grease and oil buildup can reduce airflow and filter effectiveness.

Recommended Cleaning Frequency:

  • Monthly: For optimal performance, clean the metal filter thoroughly once a month.

Cleaning Methods:

  1. Manual Cleaning:
    • Remove the filter from the range hood.
    • Spray the filter with a metal degreaser (e.g., an oven and grill cleaner).
    • Allow the degreaser to sit for a few minutes as per product instructions.
    • Wipe the filter with a damp cloth or brush to remove loosened grease.
    • Rinse thoroughly under running water until all degreaser and grease are removed.
    • Dry the filter completely before re-installing.
  2. Dishwasher Cleaning (Optional):
    • Remove the filter from the range hood.
    • Place the filter in the dishwasher with the oily side facing down.
    • Ensure no other items are in the dishwasher to prevent stains or residue transfer.
    • Clean at a maximum temperature of 50°C using a normal dishwasher cycle.
    • Note: Metal filters may discolor in the dishwasher. This is a cosmetic change and does not affect the filter's functionality.
    • Allow the filter to dry completely before re-installing.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Reduced Airflow or Odor Persistence: If, after regular cleaning, your range hood's performance remains diminished, or if odors persist, the filter may be degraded beyond effective cleaning.
  • Solution: Replace the metal filter with a new AIR2GO Metal Grease Filter (Model MF011 / Part No. A2G-MEP-MF011). A new filter will restore the full function of your range hood.
