General Operation Tips
- Sweeping Technique: Hold the search coil parallel to the ground and sweep it slowly from side to side. Overlap each sweep by about half the coil's diameter.
- Sensitivity Adjustment: Adjust sensitivity based on ground conditions. Lower sensitivity for highly mineralized ground to reduce false signals.
- Using Headphones: Plug in the included headphones for clearer audio signals, especially in noisy environments.
- Waterproof Search Coil: The IP68 search coil is fully waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water. Note: The control box is NOT waterproof and should not be submerged.
Figure 5: The IP68 waterproof search coil allows for underwater exploration, but the control box must remain dry.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the search coil and stem with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Battery Care: Always use fresh, high-quality 9V batteries. Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Power | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Replace batteries with fresh ones, ensuring correct polarity. |
| False Signals / Instability | High ground mineralization, electromagnetic interference, or high sensitivity setting. | Reduce sensitivity. Move away from power lines or other electronic devices. |
| Low Accuracy | Incorrect mode selection or improper sweeping technique. | Ensure correct mode for target type. Practice slow, overlapping sweeps. |
