Product Overview
The Ecoey A8612B-6AR is a hardwired 2-in-1 smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) detector designed to provide comprehensive safety for your home. It features advanced sensors with a 10-year lifespan, ensuring long-lasting protection. This device is equipped with a dual sensor system, utilizing an electrochemical sensor for CO detection and the latest Labyrinth core technology for smoke detection, capable of identifying both fast-burning and smoldering fires.
A key feature is its hardwired interconnection capability, allowing up to 18 alarms to be linked. If one alarm is triggered, all interconnected units will sound, providing early warning throughout your home. A replaceable AA battery backup ensures continuous operation even during power outages. The unique flared smoke inlet design facilitates faster detection, approximately 15 seconds quicker than other models. For user convenience, the detector provides bilingual audio alerts in English and French. Constructed from flame-retardant material, the device offers enhanced safety and durability.

Operating Instructions
Normal Operation:
During normal operation, the detector's power indicator will flash green every 40 seconds, indicating that it is actively monitoring for smoke and carbon monoxide. The unique intake design allows for rapid detection of hazards.
Testing the Alarm:
It is recommended to test your smoke and carbon monoxide alarm weekly to ensure proper functionality. To test, press and hold the TEST/SILENCE button for a few seconds. The alarm will sound a test pattern, and the indicator lights will cycle through their states (green, yellow, red).

Bilingual Audio Alerts:
The Ecoey A8612B-6AR provides audio alerts in both English and French. For smoke detection, the alarm will announce: "Fire!" / "Incendie!". For carbon monoxide detection, it will announce: "Warning! Carbon Monoxide" / "Attention! monoxyde de carbone".
Interconnection Feature:
This detector supports hardwired interconnection with up to 18 compatible alarms. When one interconnected alarm detects a hazard, all linked alarms will sound, providing widespread notification throughout your home. To pair alarms, press the TEST button 3 times within 2 seconds. The alarms will enter a networking status for 2 minutes, confirming "Pairing success" or "Pairing failed".

Alarm Memory:
The detector stores a history of past alarms. If an alarm has been triggered previously, it will announce "Fire alarm before, The total number of historical alarms is X" (where X is the number of historical alarms) when the TEST/SILENCE button is pressed.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the optimal performance and longevity of your Ecoey detector.
Battery Replacement:
The detector uses replaceable AA batteries for backup power. When the low voltage warning sounds, press the silence button for 10 hours of temporary silence, and replace the batteries as soon as possible. Always use fresh, high-quality AA alkaline batteries.
Cleaning:
Dust and debris can accumulate on the detector, potentially affecting its performance. Gently vacuum the detector's vents and surface monthly using a soft brush attachment. Do not paint the detector, as this can block the sensor openings.
End of Life:
The Ecoey A8612B-6AR has a 10-year alarm life. After 10 years from the date of manufacture, the unit will indicate its end-of-life, and it should be replaced immediately to ensure continued protection.

Troubleshooting
False Alarms:
If the alarm sounds without an apparent fire or CO hazard, it may be a false alarm. Press the TEST/SILENCE button for 5 seconds to silence the alarm. Ensure there are no sources of smoke (e.g., cooking fumes, steam) or CO (e.g., gas appliances) nearby that could trigger the alarm. The unique micro-porous design and internal metal labyrinth dust-proof mesh help reduce annoying false alarms caused by small crawling insects and dust.

Figure 10: The detector's design minimizes false alarms from environmental factors.
Red Flashing Light During Normal Operation:
Some units may initially blink red every 40 seconds due to residual alarm memory from factory testing. This is a normal phenomenon. To clear the memory, quickly press the TEST/HUSH button 3 times. Alternatively, the detector will reset its historical memory function automatically after 72 hours of continuous operation.
Alarm Not Responding to Test:
If the alarm does not sound when the TEST/SILENCE button is pressed, ensure the unit is properly installed, power is supplied, and batteries are correctly inserted. If the issue persists, the unit may need to be replaced.
