Maintenance
Emptying the Waste Bin:
Regularly check the clear window on the waste bin. When full, pull out the bin, empty the shredded material, and reinsert it securely.
Lubricating the Blades (Using LS50 Lubricant Sheets):
To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your shredder, lubricate the blades regularly. We suggest using one lubricant sheet every 3-5 shredding cycles.

- Feed Lubricant Sheet: With the shredder in "AUTO" mode, feed one lubricant sheet into the paper entry slot.
- Reverse and Forward: After the sheet has been shredded, switch the shredder to "REV" (Reverse) for 2-3 seconds, then switch to "AUTO/FWD" (Forward) for 2-3 seconds. Repeat this 2-3 times until the lubricant sheet pack is fully shredded. This ensures the lubricant is evenly distributed.
- Important Note: Do not tear or fold the lubricant sheet before shredding. Do not pull out the lubricant pack during the process.

Image: A diagram illustrating the three-step process for using BONSEN shredder lubricant sheets: 1. Feed the sheet, 2. Briefly switch to REV, 3. Switch to AUTO/FWD and repeat to fully shred the lubricant sheet.
Cleaning:
Unplug the shredder before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Shredder does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power switch off; shredder head not properly seated; bin full. | Check power connection; turn power switch to AUTO; ensure shredder head is secure; empty waste bin. |
| Shredder stops during operation. | Overheating; paper jam; bin full. | Allow shredder to cool down (30 mins); clear paper jam (use REV function); empty waste bin. |
| Paper jam. | Too much paper inserted; material not suitable for shredding. | Switch to REV to clear; remove excess paper; ensure material is shreddable. |
| Shredder is noisy or performance decreases. | Blades need lubrication. | Use a BONSEN LS50 lubricant sheet as per maintenance instructions. |
