3.2 Power Connection

Connect the provided power adapter to the AC INPUT port on the rear panel of the switch and then plug it into a standard AC power outlet (100-240V, 50/60Hz).

3.3 Network Connections

Connect your network devices (e.g., computers, NAS, routers, servers) to the RJ45 ports on the front panel of the switch using appropriate Ethernet cables.

  • For 10Gbps speeds, use Cat6a, Cat7, or Cat8 pure copper Ethernet cables.
  • For 2.5Gbps speeds, Cat5e or above copper cables are sufficient.
  • The switch ports will auto-negotiate to the highest supported speed of the connected device and cable.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On

After connecting the power adapter, the switch will power on automatically. The power LED indicator on the front panel will illuminate.

4.2 LED Indicators

Each RJ45 port has LED indicators to show link status and activity:

  • Link/Act LED: Indicates a successful network connection and flashes during data transmission.
  • Speed LED: Indicates the current operating speed of the port (e.g., 10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G, 100M). Refer to the switch's front panel legend for specific color/pattern meanings.

4.3 Basic Connectivity

Once powered on and devices are connected, the switch will automatically detect and establish network links. For most basic network setups, no further configuration is required for devices to communicate within the local network.

5. Web Management Interface

The Real HD switch features a web-based management interface for advanced configuration and monitoring. This allows users to manage the device without requiring command-line interface (CLI) expertise.

5.1 Accessing the Interface

  • Ensure your computer is connected to the switch via an Ethernet cable.
  • Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
  • Enter the default IP address of the switch into the browser's address bar. The default IP address is typically 192.168.2.1.
  • You will be prompted for a username and password. Refer to the included quick start guide or product documentation for default credentials.

5.2 Configuration Options

Through the web interface, you can configure various network settings:

  • VLANs: Create and manage Virtual Local Area Networks for network segmentation.
  • QoS (Quality of Service): Optimize network performance for specific traffic types, such as VoIP and video streams.
  • Security: Configure port security, MAC address constraints, and other security features.
  • Multicast/IGMP: Manage video streams and multicast traffic efficiently.
  • Port Settings: Adjust priority settings per port, rate limiting, and other port-specific configurations.
  • Diagnosis: Access tools for network diagnostics.
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP): Configure for failover links and interoperability.

Important Notes:

  • This switch does not come with VPN functionality.
  • The switch does not support L2 and L3 software features beyond those listed above.

6.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the exterior of the switch with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure the ventilation openings are free of dust buildup.

6.3 Firmware Updates

While firmware updates may be released to improve performance or add features, they are not publicly available. For any potential firmware updates or related inquiries, please contact Real HD technical support.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Real HD switch.

7.1 No Power

  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the switch and a working power outlet.
  • Verify the power outlet is active by plugging in another device.

7.2 No Link Light / No Connectivity

  • Check that Ethernet cables are securely plugged into both the switch port and the connected device.
  • Try a different Ethernet cable to rule out a faulty cable.
  • Ensure the connected device is powered on and its network adapter is functioning correctly.
  • If using a managed port, verify that the port is enabled and configured correctly in the web interface.

7.3 Slow Network Speed

  • For 10Gbps speeds, ensure you are using Cat6a, Cat7, or Cat8 pure copper Ethernet cables. Lower category cables may limit speed.
  • Verify that both the connected device's network adapter and the switch port support the desired speed. The connection will operate at the lowest common speed.
  • Check for network congestion or issues with other devices on your network.

7.4 Cannot Access Web Management Interface

  • Ensure your computer's IP address is in the same subnet as the switch (default 192.168.2.x, with subnet mask 255.255.255.0).
  • Verify you are using the correct default IP address (192.168.2.1).
  • Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • If the switch's IP address has been changed and forgotten, a factory reset may be necessary. Consult technical support for factory reset procedures.

7.5 Configuration Loss After Power Cycle

If the switch loses its configuration when powered down, this indicates a potential hardware issue. Please contact Real HD technical support for assistance and possible replacement.
