3. Setup
3.1 Unboxing and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove the ELO Vagabond controller from its packaging. Inspect the controller for any signs of damage. Ensure all included accessories, such as swappable inserts, are present.

3.2 Device Compatibility
The Vagabond controller is designed for USB-C devices only. It is compatible with:
- iPhone 15, iPhone 16, iPhone 17 (and newer USB-C iPhones)
- iPad Mini (USB-C models)
- Android phones with USB-C, up to 8.2 inches (208 mm) in width.
Note: Not compatible with Lightning devices or iPhone 14 and older models. Not compatible with full-size iPads or tablets.
3.3 Attaching Your Device
The controller features a telescopic bridge. Gently extend the controller to fit your device. The USB-C connector is located on the right side of the controller. Align your device's USB-C port with the controller's connector and firmly press your device into place.

The Vagabond includes swappable inserts to accommodate various phone thicknesses and cases. Select the appropriate inserts for a secure fit. If your phone has a particularly thick or uniquely shaped case, you may need to experiment with different inserts or remove the case for optimal fit.

3.4 ELO Unleashed App
Download the ELO Unleashed app from your device's app store. This app allows you to:
- Launch games directly.
- Remap buttons and back paddles.
- Manage your game library.
- Update controller firmware for new features and improvements.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Connection
The ELO Vagabond controller draws power directly from your connected device via USB-C. There is no separate battery to charge or power button. Once your device is securely connected, the controller will automatically power on and be ready for use.

4.2 Gaming with the Controller

4.3 Pass-Through Charging and Audio
The controller supports 15W pass-through charging. Connect your USB-C charging cable to the port on the controller to charge your phone while you play. A 3.5mm audio jack is also available for connecting headphones for lag-free game audio and chat.

5. Maintenance
5.1 General Care
To ensure the longevity of your ELO Vagabond controller, follow these guidelines:
- Avoid exposing the controller to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
- Keep the controller away from liquids and excessive moisture.
- Do not drop or subject the controller to strong impacts.
- When not in use, collapse the telescopic bridge to protect the USB-C connector and reduce its footprint for storage.
5.2 Cleaning
Clean the controller regularly with a soft, dry cloth. For joysticks and buttons, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure no moisture enters the internal components. For optimal performance and to maintain grip, consider using a dedicated cleaning solution for the joysticks if they accumulate dirt or residue.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Controller Not Responding
- Check Connection: Ensure your device is securely connected to the controller's USB-C port. A loose connection can prevent the controller from being recognized.
- Device Compatibility: Verify that your device is USB-C compatible and within the supported size range (up to 8.2 inches / 208 mm).
- Restart Device: Disconnect the controller, restart your phone or tablet, and then re-attach the controller.

6.2 Stick Drift or Inaccurate Inputs

While the controller supports 15W pass-through charging, actual charging speed can vary depending on several factors:

- Device Usage: Intensive gaming or running multiple applications simultaneously can consume significant power, potentially slowing down or preventing a net charge. The pass-through charging is primarily designed to maintain battery levels during play.
