Setup

1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the trash can from its packaging. Inspect for any damage.
2. Position the Trash Can: Place the trash can in your desired location. Ensure there is enough space for the lid to open fully and for the foot pedal to be operated comfortably.
3. Insert Inner Buckets: The trash can comes with two removable inner buckets (one black for trash, one blue for recyclables). Place each bucket into its designated compartment inside the main unit.
4. Install Trash Bags: Line each inner bucket with a standard 8 to 10-gallon trash bag. Ensure the bag edges are neatly tucked under the rim of the inner bucket to prevent slippage.
5. Install Odor Filter: Locate the odor filter compartment on the underside of the lid. Open the compartment, insert the activated carbon filter (if not already installed), and close the compartment securely. This helps to absorb odors.

Operating Instructions

1. Opening the Lid (Hands-Free): Gently step on the foot pedal located at the base of the trash can. The lid will open smoothly.
2. Soft-Close Mechanism: Release the foot pedal, and the lid will slowly and quietly close on its own, preventing slamming.
3. Using the Stay-Open Lid Lock: For longer tasks or when frequently disposing of items, locate the small lock switch on the hinge mechanism under the lid. Slide the switch to the 'Lock' position to keep the lid open. Slide it back to 'Unlock' to allow the soft-close function.
4. Disposing of Waste: Place general waste in the black inner bucket and recyclables in the blue inner bucket.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Exterior: The stainless steel exterior is fingerprint-resistant. Wipe clean with a damp microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, which can damage the finish.
2. Cleaning Inner Buckets: Regularly remove the inner buckets for cleaning. Wash with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Allow them to dry completely before placing them back into the unit.
3. Replacing Odor Filter: The activated carbon filter should be replaced periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months, depending on usage) to maintain optimal odor control. Refer to the setup section for filter compartment location.

Troubleshooting

• Lid does not close softly: Ensure the stay-open lid lock is in the 'Unlock' position. Check for any obstructions around the lid or hinge mechanism.
• Unpleasant odors persist: Replace the activated carbon filter. Ensure inner buckets are clean and trash bags are properly sealed.
• Foot pedal is stiff or unresponsive: Check for any debris or obstructions around the pedal mechanism. Ensure the trash can is placed on a flat, stable surface.
