1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Zstar 9,000 BTU 19 SEER2 Mini Split AC with Heat Pump, Model CMS. 2. Safety Information

Important: This AC system requires professional installation. Do not attempt to install or repair the air conditioner by yourself. Improper installation can cause electric shock, fire, or serious injury. Contact a qualified HVAC technician for installation and service.

• Do not insert fingers or objects into the air inlet/outlet.

4. Setup and Installation

Note: Professional installation is required for this AC system. Improper installation may void your warranty and pose safety risks. The following steps provide an overview of the installation process.

4.1 Preparation Before Installation

• Ensure the installation environment is free from heat sources, steam, obstructions around air inlets/outlets, smoke, oil, flammable/explosive gases, or corrosive gases.
• Gather necessary tools and materials as specified in the installation manual (e.g., hole saw, multimeter, pipe cutter, hex wrenches, torque wrench, adjustable wrench, tape measure, pressure gauge, safety belt, flaring tool, bracket, level, Phillips screwdriver, electroprobe, vacuum pump, pliers, copper tube).

4.2 Indoor Unit Installation

1. Select Installation Location: The wall for the indoor unit must be hard, flat, and firm to prevent vibration and noise. Ensure adequate clearance: >15cm to ceiling, >20cm to obstacles on sides, and 230-260cm from the floor.
2. Fix Mounting Plate: Use a level to ensure the mounting plate is horizontal. Punch holes in the wall and use expansion screw kits to firmly fix the plate. Do not use nails.
3. Drill Wall Hole: After determining where the pipe will go through the wall, drill a hole with a diameter of 60-80mm, inclined outward by 5-10 degrees. Use an anti-dust bag. Avoid wires, plumbing, and gas lines.
4. Install Connection Cable: Pass the power cable out from the back of the indoor unit and fix it on the terminal board. Fix the cable with a clamp.
5. Connect Refrigerant Piping: Turn the pipe in the desired direction using both hands to avoid deformation. Aim at the pipe center, tighten the taper nut with fingers, then tighten with two wrenches. Refer to the torque table in the manual for specific pipe sizes.
6. Install Drain Hose: Connect the drain hose with the water outlet pipe and fix it firmly with adhesive tape. The length should be more than 5cm to prevent water leakage. Ensure the drain hose is sloped down and never put the end in water.
7. Wrap Piping: Wrap refrigerant piping, wires, and drain pipe with wrapping tape.
8. Mount Indoor Unit: Put the refrigerant piping out of the wall hole. Put the indoor unit on the mounting plate and push the lower part until a 'click' sound is heard, ensuring it's fixed firmly.
9. Seal Wall Hole: Install a pipe protecting ring and seal the wall hole with putty to protect piping and wires.

4.3 Outdoor Unit Installation

1. Select Installation Location: The outdoor unit must be installed in a firm and flat place to prevent vibration and noise. Ensure adequate clearances: >20cm to obstruction above, >30cm to obstructions on sides, >10cm for air intake, and >200cm for air outlet.
2. Install Outdoor Unit Bracket: If mounting on a wall, use a level to ensure the bracket is horizontal and vertical. Use at least 6 expansion bolts to fix brackets firmly.
3. Fix Outdoor Unit: Put the outdoor unit onto the brackets and use 4 screws to fix the feet of the outdoor unit.
4. Connect Refrigerant Piping: Remove the nut from stop valves. Aim at the pipe center of the stop valve, tighten the taper nut with fingers, then tighten with two wrenches. Refer to the torque table in the manual for specific pipe sizes. Screw 2 caps back on.
5. Fix Cables: Remove the electrical box cover. Fix cables to the terminal board according to the wiring diagram on the E-parts cover. Use a clamp to fix cables. Put the electrical box cover back.

4.4 Vacuuming and Refrigerant Charging

1. Check Connections: Before vacuuming, check all the nuts of the indoor and outdoor unit are tightened.
2. Connect Vacuum Pump: Connect the stop valve, charging hose, manifold valve, and vacuum pump as shown in the manual's diagram.
3. Vacuumize: Turn on handle Lo to vacuumize. Vacuumize for at least 15 minutes, ensuring the value on the pressure gauge is ≤0.1MPa.
4. Pressure Check: Keep pressure for 3-5 minutes after vacuumizing. Make sure pressure springback is ≤0.05MPa.
5. Charge Refrigerant: Open 1/4 liquid valve, then remove the charging hose. Open all the liquid valves and gas valves. Screw all the caps and tighten them up.

Attention: When the length of the connecting pipe is changed, extra amount of refrigerant needs to be added or reduced, so that the operation and performance of the air conditioner will not be compromised. Refer to the table below for guidance:
