4. Component Identification
Familiarize yourself with the various parts of your BAOFENG T26 radio:

- Power Switch/Volume Control: Rotary knob to turn the radio on/off and adjust volume.

5. Setup
5.1. Charging the Battery
Before initial use, fully charge the radio's battery. The T26 features a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery.
- Locate the Type-C charging port on the side of the radio.
- Connect the provided USB Type-C charging cable to the radio's charging port.
- Connect the other end of the USB cable to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, PC, power bank).
- The charging indicator light will illuminate (typically red) during charging and change color (or turn off) when charging is complete.

5.2. Attaching the Belt Clip
The detachable belt clip allows for convenient carrying.
- To install: Align the belt clip with the groove on the back of the radio. Press the bottom of the belt clip (short part) into the groove and slide it upwards until it locks into place.
- To remove: Push the upper lock of the belt clip outward, then push the left thumb against the bottom of the belt clip and gently pull it upwards to detach.

5.3. Connecting the Earpiece
For private listening and hands-free communication, connect the included earpiece to the accessory port on the side of the radio.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
Rotate the Power Switch/Volume Control knob clockwise to turn the radio ON. Continue rotating clockwise to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume. Rotate fully counter-clockwise until a click is heard to turn the radio OFF.
6.2. Channel Selection
The T26 radios have 16 pre-programmed FRS channels. To change channels:
- Press the +/Channel UP Button (SK1) to move to the next higher channel.
- Press the -/Channel Down Button (SK2) to move to the next lower channel.
A voice prompt will announce the selected channel number.
6.3. Transmitting and Receiving
- Ensure both radios are on the same channel.
- To transmit, press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) Button. Speak clearly into the built-in microphone, holding the radio approximately 2-3 inches from your mouth.
- Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.
- When receiving a transmission, the radio will automatically output the audio through the speaker or connected earpiece.
6.4. VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) Hands-Free Operation
The VOX function allows you to transmit by speaking into the microphone without pressing the PTT button.
To activate/deactivate VOX:
- On the 5th channel, press and hold the PTT + Monitor (SK3) buttons simultaneously while turning on the radio.
- The radio will provide an audible confirmation when VOX is enabled or disabled.

6.5. Privacy Codes (CTCSS/DCS)
The T26 radios utilize 50 CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and 105 CDCSS (Continuous Digital-Coded Squelch System) codes. These codes help filter out unwanted conversations from other radios not using the same code on the same channel. The privacy codes are pre-set for each channel and are not user-programmable.
6.6. Emergency Alarm
The emergency alarm function can be activated to signal for help.
To activate/deactivate the emergency alarm:
- In standby mode, press and hold the Monitor (SK3) button to turn on or off the emergency alarm function.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the radio regularly, especially if it will be stored for an extended period.
- Storage: Store the radio in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Water Resistance: The BAOFENG T26 is not water-resistant. Avoid exposing it to rain, splashes, or immersion in water.
