1. Introduction

2. Package Contents

3. Hardware Installation (Barebone System)

The ASUS NUC 13 Pro Tall Barebone requires user-supplied RAM and storage devices. Ensure the system is powered off and disconnected from the power source before performing any hardware installation.

3.1. Installing RAM (DDR4 SO-DIMM)

  1. Unscrew the bottom cover of the NUC unit.
  2. Locate the SO-DIMM slots on the motherboard.
  3. Gently insert the DDR4 SO-DIMM module into the slot at a 45-degree angle.
  4. Press down until the retention clips snap into place, securing the module.
  5. Repeat for the second module if installing dual-channel memory.

3.2. Installing M.2 SSD

  1. Locate the M.2 slot on the motherboard.
  2. Remove the screw or standoff from the M.2 slot.
  3. Insert the M.2 SSD into the slot at an angle.
  4. Gently push down the SSD and secure it with the screw or standoff.

3.3. Installing 2.5-inch SATA Drive

The Tall barebone model supports a 2.5-inch SATA drive.

  1. Locate the 2.5-inch drive bay and SATA connector inside the chassis.
  2. Secure the 2.5-inch drive into the bay using the provided screws.
  3. Connect the SATA data and power cables to the drive and the motherboard.

3.4. Reassembling the Unit

  1. Carefully replace the bottom cover.
  2. Secure the bottom cover with the screws removed earlier.

4. Connecting Peripherals

Connect your display, keyboard, mouse, and other necessary devices.

  • Network: Connect an Ethernet cable to the 2.5G RJ45 LAN port for wired network access, or use the integrated Wi-Fi 6E for wireless connectivity.
  • Audio: Use the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack on the front panel for audio input/output.
  • Power: Connect the AC adapter to the DC-in port and then to a power outlet.

4.1. VESA Mount Installation

The included VESA mount allows you to attach the NUC to the back of a compatible monitor or to a wall.

  1. Attach the VESA bracket to the back of your monitor or desired surface using the provided screws.
  2. Slide the NUC unit onto the VESA bracket until it clicks securely into place.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. First Boot and BIOS Setup

  1. After connecting all peripherals and power, press the power button on the front panel.
  2. To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup, repeatedly press the Delete or F2 key during startup.
  3. Configure boot order, system time, and other settings as needed. Save changes and exit BIOS.

5.2. Operating System Installation

The NUC 13 Pro supports Windows 11. You will need a bootable USB drive with your preferred operating system installer.

  1. Insert the bootable USB drive into a USB port.
  2. Power on the NUC and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (refer to Section 5.1).
  3. Set the boot priority to the USB drive or select it from the boot menu.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the operating system.

5.3. Driver Installation

After OS installation, install the necessary drivers for optimal performance. Drivers can typically be found on the ASUS support website for your specific model.
