Orient Bambino Version 8 Automatic Watch User Manual

Model: RA-AK0705R30B

Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Orient Bambino Version 8 Automatic Watch, Model RA-AK0705R30B. This timepiece combines classic design with the reliability of an automatic movement, featuring a unique weekly calendar and a 24-hour dial. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your watch to ensure its longevity and accurate performance.

Setup

1. Unboxing

Carefully remove the watch from its packaging. Inspect the watch for any visible damage. The watch is typically secured in a protective box.

2. Initial Winding

Your Orient Bambino Version 8 watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement (Orient F6B22). If the watch has stopped, it requires initial winding to start. To hand-wind the watch, rotate the crown clockwise approximately 20-30 times while it is in the normal (pushed-in) position. This will build up a power reserve to start the movement.

3. Setting the Time

  1. Pull the crown out to the second click position. The second hand will stop (hacking feature).
  2. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. To avoid confusion between AM and PM for the date change, it is recommended to first advance the hands past 12 o'clock until the date changes, indicating midnight. Then set the correct time.
  3. Push the crown back into the normal position to start the watch.

4. Setting the Date, Day, and 24-Hour Dial

  1. Pull the crown out to the first click position.
  2. Rotate the crown clockwise to adjust the date.
  3. Rotate the crown counter-clockwise to adjust the day of the week.
  4. The 24-hour sub-dial automatically synchronizes with the main hour hand and cannot be set independently.
  5. Once set, push the crown back into the normal position.

Important: Do not attempt to set the date or day between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this can damage the movement's date change mechanism. If adjustment is needed during this period, first set the time outside this window (e.g., to 6:00 AM), adjust the date/day, then reset the time to the current time.

Operating Instructions

Automatic Movement

The Orient F6B22 movement is an automatic, self-winding caliber. It gains power from the natural motion of your wrist. When worn regularly (typically 8-10 hours a day), the watch will remain wound. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, the power reserve will deplete, and the watch will stop. In such cases, hand-wind it as described in the 'Initial Winding' section.

Hand-Winding and Hacking

  • Hand-Winding: As mentioned, you can manually wind the watch by rotating the crown clockwise in its normal position.
  • Hacking: The hacking feature allows for precise time setting. When the crown is pulled out to the second click position, the second hand stops, enabling synchronization with a reference time.

Water Resistance (30 Meters)

Your watch has a water resistance rating of 30 meters (3 ATM). This means it is resistant to splashes and brief immersion in water, such as rain or hand washing. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the strap becomes dirty, gently wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and allow it to air dry completely.

Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and strong magnetic fields. The original watch box is ideal for storage.

Periodic Service

Like any precision mechanical instrument, your watch benefits from periodic professional servicing. It is recommended to have your watch inspected and serviced by an authorized watchmaker every 3-5 years to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the movement.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: If the watch has stopped, ensure it has sufficient power reserve. Hand-wind the watch 20-30 times. If it still does not start, or stops shortly after, it may require professional inspection.
  • Time Inaccuracy: Mechanical watches are subject to slight variations in accuracy. If your watch is consistently running significantly fast or slow, it might be magnetized or require regulation. Avoid placing the watch near strong magnetic sources (e.g., speakers, refrigerators, certain electronic devices).
  • Date/Day Not Changing: Ensure the time is set correctly, particularly the AM/PM cycle. The date and day typically change around midnight. If the issue persists, avoid manual adjustment during the restricted hours (9 PM - 3 AM) and consult a professional.
