4. Operating Instructions

Manual Focus:

This is a manual focus lens. To adjust focus, rotate the focus ring on the lens barrel until your subject appears sharp in the viewfinder or on the camera's LCD screen. Utilize your camera's focus peaking or magnification features for precise focusing.

Aperture Control:

The aperture (T-stop) is adjusted by rotating the aperture ring on the lens. The T2.1 aperture allows for shallow depth of field and excellent low-light performance. Adjust the aperture to control the amount of light entering the lens and the depth of field in your image.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to remove dust. For smudges, use a specialized lens cleaning solution and a microfiber cloth. Avoid touching the lens elements directly with your fingers.
  • Storage: Store the lens in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Always attach both front and rear lens caps when not in use. Consider using a dehumidifying cabinet if you live in a humid environment.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the lens to strong impacts, as this can damage the optical elements or mechanical components.

6. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Lens not attaching securely: Ensure the lens is correctly aligned with the camera mount's index mark and rotated until it clicks. Check for any obstructions on the mount.
  • Difficulty focusing: This is a manual focus lens. Ensure your camera's focus mode is set to manual (MF). Use focus peaking or magnification aids for accurate focus.
  • Dust on images: Check both the front and rear lens elements for dust. Also, check your camera's sensor. Clean the lens as described in the Maintenance section.
  • Image quality issues (softness, chromatic aberration): Ensure the lens is clean and properly focused. Test at different apertures, as some lenses perform optimally at specific T-stops.
