Setup and Connection

To begin using the AUTOUTLET OBD2 Diagnostic Tool, follow these steps:

  1. Locate your vehicle's 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC). This is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is OFF.
  3. Plug the diagnostic tool's OBDII connector firmly into the vehicle's DLC.
  4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the ON position (engine off). The diagnostic tool will power on automatically.

The device is powered directly from the vehicle's battery (5.0 V to 18.0 V).

Operating Instructions

The AUTOUTLET OBD2 Diagnostic Tool supports 10 OBDII diagnostic functions:

  • Read Codes: Retrieves Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the vehicle's computer.
  • Erase Codes: Clears DTCs from the vehicle's computer and turns off the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL).
  • Live Data: Displays real-time data stream from the vehicle's sensors. The tool can read up to 88 real-time data streams.
  • O2 Sensor Test: Retrieves O2 sensor monitor test results.
  • Freeze Frame: Displays a snapshot of operating conditions at the time of an emission-related fault.
  • Vehicle Information: Retrieves vehicle identification number (VIN), calibration ID, and calibration verification number (CVN).
  • I/M Readiness Status: Checks the readiness of the emission monitoring system.
  • Component Test: Allows testing of specific components or systems.
  • On-Board Monitor Test: Retrieves results for on-board diagnostic monitoring tests for specific components/systems.
  • Battery Detection: Checks battery voltage, real-time voltage curve, and battery life. Note: This function is only applicable to lead-acid batteries. It is not suitable for hybrid vehicles with non-lead-acid batteries. If the real-time monitoring curve does not change when the battery is turned on, it indicates that your vehicle's battery is not a lead-acid battery.

One-Touch Detection Function

The tool features a one-touch detection function with a DTC fault signal light that quickly indicates whether the vehicle has a fault code.

Image: Flags of Germany, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, and Chinese, indicating the 10 supported languages. Below, a world map shows vehicle compatibility: US (after 1996), EU (after 2000), and Asia (after 2000).

Supported languages include: German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Polish, Finnish, and Portuguese.

Vehicle Compatibility

This car fault code reader offers broad compatibility with 99% of OBDII-compliant vehicles.

  • Most US vehicles manufactured after 1996.
  • EU vehicles manufactured after 2000.
  • Asian vehicles manufactured after 2009.

It is compatible with the following 9 OBDII protocols:

  1. SAE J1850 PWM (41.6 Kbaud)
  2. SAE J1850 VPW (10.4 Kbaud)
  3. ISO9141-2 (5 Baud init, 10.4 Kbaud)
  4. ISO14230-4 KWP (5 Baud init, 10.4 Kbaud)
  5. ISO14230-4 KWP (fast init, 10.4 Kbaud)
  6. ISO15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 KBaud)
  7. ISO15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 500 KBaud)
  8. ISO15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 250 KBaud)
  9. ISO15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 251 Kbaud)

Important Note: This OBD2 diagnostic tool uses the international common 9-protocol to support 12V gasoline cars and light trucks (non-electric). It is not compatible with diesel cars or other trucks that use a different protocol. If the vehicle has been modified or the OBD interface is defective, the OBD function may be affected. Please contact support for feedback in such cases.

The tool can read and clear engine information from OBDII systems. However, it does not support non-OBDII systems, including subsystem faults (e.g., air conditioning stepper motor faults), ABS with airbags, and oil service indicator lights.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your diagnostic tool, consider the following:

  • No Power: Ensure the OBDII connector is securely plugged into the vehicle's DLC and the ignition is in the ON position. Check the vehicle's battery voltage.
  • Link Error: Verify that the vehicle is OBDII compliant. Check for a secure connection to the DLC. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on and retry.
  • Tool Does Not Respond: If the tool freezes, a software error might have occurred. Disconnect the tool from the vehicle, wait a few seconds, and reconnect. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
  • Battery Test Inaccurate: Remember the battery test function is for lead-acid batteries only. If your vehicle uses a different battery type (e.g., in hybrid vehicles), this function will not provide accurate results.
  • Limited Functionality: Ensure your vehicle is compatible with the supported OBDII protocols and is not a diesel vehicle or a truck using a different protocol. Non-OBDII systems (like ABS or airbag faults) are not supported by this tool.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your AUTOUTLET OBD2 Diagnostic Tool:

  • Store the tool in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Regularly check the cable and connector for any signs of damage.
  • Keep the software updated via Bluetooth OTA upgrades when available.
