1. Introduction
The ZEISS Conquest HDX 10x42 binoculars are engineered for exceptional optical performance and robust durability, suitable for various outdoor activities including hunting, bird watching, and general nature observation. These binoculars feature the ZEISS HD concept, ensuring 90% light transmission for bright images, even in low-light conditions. The ZEISS T* coating enhances color fidelity and maximizes brightness, while ED glass, aspheric lenses, and FieldFlattener Technology provide edge-to-edge sharpness across the entire field of view.
Constructed with a lightweight magnesium housing and full rubber armoring, the Conquest HDX binoculars are waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof, with nitrogen purging to prevent internal fogging. The LotuTec hydrophobic lens coating ensures clear viewing in all weather conditions by repelling water and dirt. Ergonomic features include adjustable and removable eyecups, a locking diopter, removable flip-down lens covers, and a fast, precise focus wheel for smooth adjustments.

3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Neck Strap
Thread the ends of the neck strap through the strap lugs on each side of the binoculars. Ensure the strap is securely fastened and adjusted to a comfortable length for carrying.
3.2 Adjusting Eyecups
The eyecups are adjustable to accommodate users with or without eyeglasses. Rotate the eyecups counter-clockwise to extend them for use without eyeglasses, or clockwise to retract them for use with eyeglasses. Find the position that provides a full, clear field of view without vignetting.
3.3 Adjusting Interpupillary Distance
Hold the binoculars up to your eyes and look through them. Adjust the distance between the two barrels by moving them closer together or further apart until you see a single, circular field of view. This ensures both eyes are correctly aligned with the optical axis.
3.4 Diopter Adjustment
The diopter adjustment compensates for differences in vision between your left and right eyes. To adjust:
- Close your right eye and look through the left barrel with your left eye. Rotate the central focus wheel until the image is sharp.
- Close your left eye and look through the right barrel with your right eye. Adjust the diopter ring (usually located on the right eyepiece) until the image is sharp. The Conquest HDX features a locking diopter; pull it up to adjust and push it down to lock your setting.
- With both eyes open, the image should now be perfectly sharp. Use only the central focus wheel for subsequent focusing.

4. Operating the Binoculars
4.1 Focusing
Once the interpupillary distance and diopter are set, use the large, central focus wheel to bring objects into sharp focus. The fast and precise focus wheel allows for quick adjustments to track moving subjects or shift between different viewing distances.
4.2 Using Lens Covers
The binoculars come with removable flip-down lens covers for both objective and eyepiece lenses. These covers protect the lenses from dust, dirt, and scratches when not in use. Simply flip them open or remove them when ready to observe.

5. Maintenance and Care
5.1 Cleaning Lenses
The LotuTec coating on the lenses helps repel water and dirt, making cleaning easier. For dust or light smudges, use the provided lens cleaning cloth. For more stubborn dirt, breathe lightly on the lens surface and wipe gently with the cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
5.2 Cleaning Body
Wipe the rubber-armored body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using solvents or strong cleaning agents that could damage the rubber coating.
5.3 Storage
Store the binoculars in their protective carrying case in a cool, dry place when not in use. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.

6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Blurry Image
- Ensure the central focus wheel is correctly adjusted for the viewing distance.
- Verify the diopter setting is correct for your eyes. Re-adjust if necessary following the steps in Section 3.4.
- Check for dirt or smudges on the lenses and clean them as described in Section 5.1.
6.2 Double Image or Eye Strain
- Re-adjust the interpupillary distance (distance between the barrels) until a single, circular field of view is achieved.
- Ensure eyecups are correctly set for your use (extended for non-eyeglass wearers, retracted for eyeglass wearers).
