4.6 Data Hold and Automatic Shutdown
The Data Hold function allows you to freeze the current reading on the display. The multimeter also features automatic shutdown after 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and accuracy of your TESMEN TM-510 multimeter, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the multimeter in its provided storage bag in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings and prevent leakage. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.
- Test Leads: Inspect test leads regularly for any signs of damage (fraying, cracks). Replace damaged leads immediately to prevent electrical shock.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Multimeter does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Check battery polarity or replace batteries. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Low battery; damaged test leads; incorrect measurement technique. | Replace batteries; inspect/replace test leads; ensure proper connection and measurement method. |
| No continuity beep. | Open circuit; multimeter not in continuity mode (though auto-ranging should handle this). | Check the circuit for breaks; ensure test leads are making good contact. |
| NCV not detecting voltage. | Too far from source; low voltage; NCV function not activated. | Bring closer to the source; ensure NCV button is pressed. |
