This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, setup, operation, and maintenance of your Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch Deadbolt (YRD410-F-BLE-BSP). This smart lock offers multiple access methods including fingerprint, digital keypad, and a traditional backup key, enhancing the security and convenience of your home.
The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch Deadbolt is designed for easy integration into most standard US entry doors, replacing your existing deadbolt with minimal tools required.
2. Safety Information
Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use. Failure to follow these instructions could result in product damage, property damage, or personal injury.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the lock. This may void the warranty and compromise security.
- Use only the specified batteries (4 AA Alkaline batteries). Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.
- Keep fingers clear of moving parts during operation.
- Ensure the door frame and door are in good condition and properly aligned for optimal lock performance.
- Protect the keypad from extreme temperatures and direct moisture.

4. Tools Required
The following tools are typically required for installation:

5. Installation
Follow these steps to install your Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch Deadbolt. For a visual guide, refer to the installation video below.
5.1. Prepare Door
Before installing your lock, prepare your door. Use a screwdriver to remove the two screws from the deadbolt. Next, use the screwdriver to remove the two screws from the latch.
5.2. Measure Clearance
This is the space between your deadbolt hole and your lever. Make sure this space is greater than 1.78 inches.
5.3. Measure Door Thickness
The Assure Lock 2 can be installed on doors that are 1 3/8 inches to 2 1/4 inches thick.
5.4. Select Screws
Put aside screws for later use. If your door is 1 3/8 inches thick, select the blue long screws. If your door is 1 3/8 inches - 1 3/4 inches thick, select the black long screws. If your door is 1 3/4 inches - 2 1/4 inches thick, select the silver long screws.
5.5. Measure Backset
This is the dimension from the edge of the door to the center of the deadbolt hole. The Assure Lock 2 supports backsets of 2 3/8 inches or 2 3/4 inches. If your backset is 2 3/8 inches, you can use the deadbolt latch as it is in the box. If your backset is 2 3/4 inches, you must adjust your deadbolt latch by twisting the bolt as shown in the video.
5.6. Measure Face Bore
The Assure Lock 2 supports bore holes of 2 1/8 inches or 1 1/2 inches. The diameter of your cross bore hole must be 1 inch.
5.7. Adjust Face Bore
If your bore hole is 1 1/2 inches, remove the bore hole cup from the keypad. This can be done by unscrewing the two screws on the inside of the keypad.
5.8. Measure Strike Pocket
This hole must be 1 inch in diameter and 1 inch deep.
5.9. Install Deadbolt Latch
Put the deadbolt latch in retracted, unlocked, position. The deadbolt orientation should be placed into the door, with the side marked 'up'. Verify that the deadbolt is centered in the hole in the door. Then, secure it with the two small screws.
5.10. Install Strike Plate
Install the strike plate into the door with the remaining two small screws.
5.11. Install Keypad on Front of Door
Make sure that the tailpiece is in the horizontal position and will fit into the deadbolt latch. Additionally, be sure to position the cable under the deadbolt latch and that the keypad is straight and flush to the door.
5.12. Install Mounting Bracket
Install the mounting bracket on the inside of your door. Place the two prongs through the two holes in the keypad. Then, guide the keypad wire through the hole in the mounting bracket.
5.13. Secure Mounting Bracket
Use the long screws (silver, black or blue) you selected while measuring your door thickness. Thread the through bolts through the two holes in the mounting bracket. Make sure they also thread properly through the deadbolt latch and the keypad. Continue to thread until tightened and so that the keypad is sitting flashing on the front of the door.
5.14. Attach Cable
Attach the cable from the keypad to the connector on the inside of the lock. Be sure to route the wire under the wire guide without crimping it.
5.15. Install Interior Lock
Place the interior lock on the mounting bracket by hooking the bottom of the interior of the lock to the latch on the mounting bracket.
5.16. Install Interior Lock (continued)
Screw in the two pre-installed screws inside of the lock's battery cover. When tightening down these screws, the lock will adjust itself to sit flush on the door.
5.17. Test Lock Operation
Test the operation of the lock by moving the thumbturn. The thumbturn should move smoothly and the latch should move to the extended, or locked, position.
5.18. Install Yale Smart Module (optional)
If you have a Yale Smart Module, install it in the interior of the lock in the module slot. The module must be installed prior to installing the batteries. If your batteries are already installed, remove one battery prior to installing the module. We recommend doing this if your lock came with a module.
5.19. Install Batteries
Unlock the deadbolt before installing the batteries. For easy battery removal in the future, pull up the ribbon to cover the battery terminals. Then, install the bottom back battery, followed by the top back battery, and finally the two batteries before sliding the battery cover back in place.
5.20. Install Battery Cover
Install the battery cover by sliding it into place.
6. Setup
After physical installation, you will need to set up your lock with the Yale Access App.
6.1. Setting up Entry Codes
The Yale Access App allows you to create and manage entry codes for yourself, family members, and trusted guests. You can assign permanent, recurring, or temporary access codes.
7. Operating Instructions
Your Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch Deadbolt offers several convenient ways to access your home.
7.1. Fingerprint Unlock
The biometric keypad allows for quick and secure entry using your unique fingerprint. Simply place your registered finger on the scanner for instant access.
7.2. Keypad Entry
Enter your personalized entry code on the illuminated digital keypad to unlock the door. The keypad is backlit for visibility in low-light conditions.
7.3. Auto-Unlock (Bluetooth)
With the Bluetooth feature, the lock can automatically unlock as you approach your door, provided your smartphone with the Yale Access App is within range. This hands-free option is ideal when your hands are full.
7.4. Auto-Lock
The Auto-Lock feature ensures your door is always secured. After a set period (configurable in the app), the deadbolt will automatically extend, providing peace of mind.
7.5. Backup Key
For traditional access or in case of battery depletion, a physical backup key is provided. The keyhole is located discreetly on the bottom of the keypad.
8. Maintenance
8.1. Battery Replacement
The Yale Assure Lock 2 Touch Deadbolt uses 4 AA alkaline batteries. When the batteries are low, the lock will provide an audible and visual alert. To replace batteries:
- Remove the battery cover from the interior assembly.
- Pull the ribbon to easily remove the old batteries.
- Insert four new AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
- Replace the battery cover.
If the batteries are completely dead, you can use a 9V battery on the terminals located at the bottom of the exterior keypad for temporary power to enter your code or use the backup key.
8.2. Cleaning
Clean the lock's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
9. Troubleshooting
