  1. Prepare for Installation:
    • Shut off the main inlet valve to your home's water supply.
    • Open a nearby faucet to release any remaining water pressure in the pipes.
    • Wrap more than 10 loops of Teflon tape on the external thread of the union on both sides of the filter head.
    • Install two 3/4 inch Brass PEX-A Barb x 1 inch Female fittings (not included) with a wrench if using PEX piping.
  2. Connect the Filter:
    • Cut off the appropriate length of your PEX pipe where the filter will be installed.
    • Use an expansion ring to fix the pipe to the filter's inlet and outlet.
    • Important: Pay attention to the water inlet direction (indicated by arrows on the filter) and do not install it in the opposite direction.
    • Install the quick-connect threaded connector on the drain port at the bottom of the filter.
    • Insert the drain tubing into the quick-connect threaded connector, ensuring it is fully seated.
    • Install locking plates to secure the PE pipe in place.
    • Lead the drain tubing to a sewage outlet or a bucket.
  3. Check for Leaks:
    • Slowly turn on the main inlet valve.
    • Turn off the water outlet after the domestic water equipment is able to dispense water.
    • Check for any water leakage or slow water seepage at the joints. If leaks are present, ensure all connections are tight.
    • Turn on the drain valve for approximately 3 minutes to discharge any internal air from the system.
  4. Flush the System:
    • Open a water outlet (faucet) and flush the system for 10 minutes to clear any air or loose particles.
    • After flushing, close the water outlet. The system is now ready for normal use.

5. Operation

Once installed, the Waterdrop WD-PF01 filter operates continuously to remove sediment from your water supply. The transparent housing allows for visual inspection of the filter mesh and accumulated sediment.

5.1 Filtration Status

Unfiltered water enters the system, passes through the 50µm filter mesh, which intercepts large particles. The filtered water then flows to your household appliances. The transparent filter shell allows you to observe the filtration process and the accumulation of impurities.

Video Description: This video demonstrates the operation and maintenance procedures for the Waterdrop Pre-filtration System, including filtration and flushing.

5.2 High Flow Rate

The system maintains a high flow rate of 20 GPM, ensuring sufficient water pressure for various household activities simultaneously, such as washing, showering, and cooking.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Waterdrop WD-PF01 filter system.

6.1 Flushing the Filter (Self-Cleaning)

The system features a 360° self-cleaning function. When the drain valve is turned on, the hydrodynamic brush rotates clockwise to clean the dirt from the outer surface of the filter screen, flushing away impurities through the drain port.

Video Description: A short video explaining the Waterdrop 360° self-clean brush mechanism and its benefits for preventing clogs.

Flushing Frequency:

  • Please flush the filter regularly every 15-30 days, depending on your local water quality.
  • If you are using well water as the source or if the water quality is poor, please flush at least once a week.

6.2 Cleaning the Filter Mesh (Manual Cleaning)

If sticky impurities are embedded in the filter mesh and cannot be discharged by flushing, manual cleaning is required:

  1. Shut off the main inlet valve and turn on the drain valve to release pressure.
  2. Use the provided wrench to unscrew the transparent filter bottle clockwise. It is recommended to use a container to catch residual water.
  3. Take out the filter mesh. You do not need to remove the entire filter shell, just the mesh.
  4. Remove impurities from the filter mesh using a cleaning solution or brush. Do not use strong acid or alkaline cleaning solutions.
  5. Observe that the holes at the bottom of the hydrodynamic brush and the raised portion at the bottom of the filter bottle are correctly installed.
  6. Put the cleaned filter screen back into the housing.
  7. Ensure the seal gaskets on the bottle are undamaged and properly installed.
  8. Use the wrench to tighten the filter housing and machine head counter-clockwise.
  9. Turn on the main inlet valve. Turn on the drain valve for about 3 minutes to discharge internal air, then check for water leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Waterdrop WD-PF01 filter system, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Water Leakage: If you observe water leakage from the system, first ensure that all connections (inlet, outlet, and drain port) are securely tightened. Check the seal gaskets for any damage or improper seating. Re-tighten connections using a wrench if necessary.
  • Reduced Water Flow/Pressure: A significant reduction in water flow or pressure can indicate a clogged filter mesh. Perform a manual flush (Section 6.1) or a thorough manual cleaning (Section 6.2) of the filter mesh. Ensure the main water inlet valve is fully open.
  • No Water Output: If there is no water output after installation or maintenance, ensure the main inlet valve is fully open and that the system has been properly flushed to remove air (Step 4 of Installation).

If the problem persists after attempting these troubleshooting steps, please contact Waterdrop Customer Service for further assistance.
