Setup Guide

1. Mounting the Camera and Solar Panel

Choose a location with ample direct sunlight for the solar panel to ensure optimal charging. The camera can be mounted on a wall or pole using the provided hardware.

Use the provided mounting template to mark drill holes. Secure the mounting bracket firmly to the desired surface. Attach the camera to the bracket. Ensure the solar panel is positioned to receive at least 5 hours of direct sunlight daily for optimal performance, especially for pre-recording features.

2. Initial Power-Up and App Connection

Connect the solar panel to the camera. The camera will power on and prompt you to connect to the Reolink app. Download the Reolink app from your device's app store.

Follow the in-app instructions to scan the QR code on the camera and complete the setup process. This typically takes less than 5 minutes.

3. Wi-Fi Setup

The camera supports dual-band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi 6. Connect the camera to your home Wi-Fi network through the app. For optimal performance, ensure the camera is within good range of your Wi-Fi router.

Operating the Camera

1. 4K Video and ColorX Night Vision

The camera records in stunning 4K (3840x2160) resolution, providing clear and detailed footage. With F1.0 aperture and 1/1.8'' sensor, ColorX Night Vision delivers full-color video even in low-light conditions without needing spotlights or infrared, making night scenes appear as clear as day.

2. Pan, Tilt, AI Detection & Auto Tracking

The camera offers 355° pan and 90° tilt capabilities, providing full 360° coverage. Its advanced AI detection can accurately identify people, vehicles, and animals, reducing false alarms. The auto-tracking feature allows the camera to automatically follow detected subjects within its field of view.

3. Continuous Recording and Pre-recording

The camera supports continuous recording when paired with a Home Hub/Pro. It also features a unique 10-second pre-recording function, capturing events before motion is fully detected, ensuring you don't miss critical moments.

4. App Usage and Settings

The Reolink app provides full control over the camera. You can view live feeds, access recorded footage, adjust detection settings, set up notifications (push, email), and manage storage options. The app allows for easy pan/tilt control and playback of recorded events.

5. Storage Options

The camera supports local storage via a microSD card (up to 512GB, not included). For larger storage needs and continuous recording, it can be paired with a Reolink Home Hub or Home Hub Pro (up to 16TB, not included), which also supports RTSP/NAS without monthly fees.

Maintenance

Battery Life and Solar Charging

The camera features a high-capacity battery providing up to 500 days of operation in standard motion detection mode. For continuous recording or frequent use of pre-recording, ensure the solar panel receives at least 5 hours of direct sunlight daily. In colder climates (below 0°C/32°F) or during prolonged cloudy periods, battery performance may decrease, requiring manual charging via the USB-C port.

Weather Resistance

The camera is designed for outdoor use with an IP65 water-repellent rating, ensuring durability against various weather conditions like rain and dust. Regular cleaning of the lens and solar panel is recommended to maintain optimal performance.

MicroSD Card Management

Periodically check the storage status of your microSD card via the app. Format the card as needed to ensure smooth recording and prevent data corruption. If using a Home Hub, manage recordings through its interface.

Troubleshooting

1. Insufficient Solar Charging for Continuous Recording

If the battery depletes quickly during continuous recording, especially in low sunlight conditions, consider relocating the solar panel to an area with more direct sun exposure. Some users have found that a 12W solar panel (not included) provides quicker recovery than the standard 6W panel, particularly for 24/7 recording.

2. Motion Detection Issues

If the camera fails to detect motion at the edge of the frame or misses specific animals, adjust the object size and tracking range settings in the app. Ensure the camera's home and preset pan locations are calibrated correctly, as occasional recalibration may be needed to maintain optimal coverage.

3. Wi-Fi Connectivity Problems

For signal loss or poor connection, ensure the camera is within optimal range of your Wi-Fi router. Consider using a Wi-Fi extender or relocating the camera closer to the router. The camera's Wi-Fi 6 technology generally provides stable connections even at distances.

4. Pan/Tilt Calibration Issues

If the camera's vertical axis loses calibration and creeps up or down, perform a manual calibration through the Reolink app to reset its position.
