Maintenance

Battery Charging

For the Ring Battery Doorbell, monitor the battery level in the Ring app. When low, remove the doorbell from its mounting bracket and recharge it using the provided USB-C cable. If hardwired, the battery will receive a trickle charge.

Cleaning

Gently wipe the exterior of both devices with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish or internal components. Ensure the camera lenses are clean for clear video quality.

Software Updates

Ring devices receive guaranteed software security updates for at least four years after the device is last available for purchase. Ensure your devices are connected to Wi-Fi to receive automatic updates. You can check for specific device information in the Ring Control Center.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power/Battery Issues (Doorbell): Ensure the battery is fully charged. If hardwired, verify the transformer meets the specified voltage requirements (8-24 VAC).
  • No Power (Indoor Cam): Check that the power adapter is securely plugged into a working standard power outlet.
  • Connectivity Problems: Verify your Wi-Fi network is active and the devices are within range. Ensure your internet upload speed meets the minimum 2 Mbps requirement. Try restarting your router.
  • Motion Detection Not Working: Check motion detection settings and customizable motion zones in the Ring app. Ensure the feature is enabled.
  • Poor Video Quality: Ensure camera lenses are clean. Check Wi-Fi signal strength in the Ring app. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures can affect performance.
  • Alerts Not Received: Verify notification settings in the Ring app and on your smartphone. For Person + Package Alerts, ensure you have an active Ring Protect subscription.
  • Pan-Tilt Not Responding (Indoor Cam): Check power connection and Wi-Fi. Restart the camera by unplugging and re-plugging it.
