5. Setup and Installation

Important: Ensure power is disconnected at the main circuit breaker before beginning installation.

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable wall location, ideally between 1.8m and 2.5m high, for optimal motion detection. Consider areas like driveways, gardens, or entryways.
  2. Mark Drilling Points: Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the drilling points on the wall.
  3. Drill Holes: Drill holes at the marked points and insert wall plugs (if required for your wall type).
  4. Secure Mounting Bracket: Attach the mounting bracket to the wall using the provided screws.
  5. Wiring: Connect the electrical wires to the terminal block inside the fixture. Ensure correct polarity (Live, Neutral, Earth) according to local electrical codes.
  6. Attach Fixture: Secure the LED wall light to the mounting bracket. Ensure it is firmly attached and sealed to maintain its IP65 rating.

6. Operating Instructions

The Maclean MCE512 features an integrated PIR motion sensor and adjustable settings for optimal performance.

Motion Sensor Functionality

The PIR sensor detects movement within its 140° detection angle and up to 9 meters range. When motion is detected, the light will turn on automatically. After the set duration, if no further motion is detected, the light will turn off.

Adjustable Settings

The fixture includes controls to adjust the lighting duration and ambient light sensitivity. These controls are typically located on the underside or side of the sensor unit.

  • Time Setting (Duration): This knob or switch controls how long the light stays on after motion is detected. It can be adjusted from a minimum of 10 seconds (+/- 3 seconds) to a maximum of 15 minutes (+/- 1 minute).
  • LUX Setting (Ambient Light Sensitivity): This knob or switch determines the ambient light level at which the sensor will activate the light. Set it to a low LUX value (e.g., < 3 LUX) for activation only in dark conditions, or to a high LUX value (e.g., 2000 LUX) for activation in brighter conditions (daylight).

Experiment with these settings to find the optimal configuration for your specific needs and environment.

7. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the fixture regularly with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish or electronic components.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the mounting screws and electrical connections to ensure they are secure.
  • Sensor Area: Keep the motion sensor lens clean and free from obstructions (e.g., spiderwebs, leaves) to ensure proper operation.
  • No User-Serviceable Parts: The LED light source is integrated and not designed for user replacement. Do not attempt to disassemble the fixture.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on.No power supply; LUX setting too low; faulty wiring; sensor obstructed.Check power connection; adjust LUX setting to a higher value; verify wiring connections; clear sensor area.
Light stays on continuously.Continuous motion detected; TIME setting too long; LUX setting too high (daylight activation).Ensure no constant motion in detection zone; reduce TIME setting; adjust LUX setting to a lower value.
Light turns on/off too frequently.Sensor too sensitive; environmental factors (e.g., moving branches, small animals).Adjust sensor position; clear obstructions; consider reducing sensitivity if possible (not explicitly stated as adjustable, but common for PIR).
Light is dim or flickers.Unstable power supply; end of product lifespan.Check power supply stability; if product is old, it may need replacement.
