Main Unit (Receiver):

The main unit features a large color LCD display for all weather data, time, and settings. It has control buttons on the side and a backlight touch field on top. Power is supplied via a DC adapter or batteries.

Wireless Remote Sensor (Transmitter):

The remote sensor measures outdoor temperature and humidity and transmits data wirelessly to the main unit. It is battery-powered and includes a small display, a °C/°F button, a TX button, and a channel selector switch inside the battery compartment.

4. Setup

4.1 Powering On:

  1. Remote Sensor: Open the battery compartment on the back of the wireless remote sensor. Insert 2 x AA batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment.
  2. Main Unit: Insert 3 x AAA batteries (not included) into the main unit's battery compartment for backup power. For continuous display and adjustable backlight, connect the DC adapter to the "Power Supply Socket" on the back of the main unit and plug it into a power outlet.

4.2 Initial Synchronization:

Upon powering on, the main unit will automatically search for the remote sensor signal. Ensure the remote sensor is within range (up to 200ft/60m in open areas) and has fresh batteries. The outdoor temperature and humidity will appear on the main unit's display once synchronized.

4.3 Atomic Clock Synchronization:

The weather station will automatically search for the WWVB signal at 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, and 3:00 AM daily, and after a reset, to synchronize the atomic clock. During this process, the screen may turn dark for approximately 7 minutes. If the screen does not stay on after searching, press the brightness adjustment button on the side of the host.

5. Operating Instructions

6. Weather Forecast Interpretation

The weather station forecasts weather changes for the next 12 hours based on barometric pressure trends. The display shows various icons representing different weather conditions:

Weather forecast icons including sunny, cloudy, rainy, heavy rainy, and snowy

Figure 6.1: Weather forecast icons and their corresponding conditions.

  • Sunny: Clear skies.
  • Slightly Cloudy: Partially cloudy.
  • Cloudy: Overcast.
  • Rainy: Light to moderate rain.
  • Heavy Rainy: Significant rainfall or thunderstorms.
  • Snowy: Snowfall.

Note: Weather forecasts are based on atmospheric pressure changes and may not always be 100% accurate for localized conditions.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement:

Replace batteries in both the main unit and remote sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Use fresh batteries of the specified type (AA for sensor, AAA for main unit backup).

7.2 Cleaning:

Wipe the display and unit surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the display or casing.

7.3 Sensor Placement:

For optimal outdoor temperature and humidity readings, place the remote sensor in a shaded, dry location, protected from direct sunlight and precipitation. Ensure it is within the transmission range of the main unit.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No outdoor temperature/humidity display.Sensor out of range, low sensor battery, interference, or unsynchronized.Move sensor closer to main unit. Replace sensor batteries. Avoid placing near electronic devices. Re-synchronize by removing and reinserting batteries in both units.
Main unit display is dim or off.Low main unit battery, DC adapter not connected, or backlight setting.Replace main unit batteries. Ensure DC adapter is securely connected. Adjust backlight using the "LIGHT/SNOOZE" touch field.
Incorrect time display.Atomic clock not synchronized or manual setting error.Ensure unit is in an area with good WWVB signal reception. Allow time for automatic synchronization (can take several hours). Manually set the time if necessary.
Weather forecast seems inaccurate.Forecasts are based on barometric pressure trends, not real-time conditions.Understand that the forecast is a prediction for the next 12 hours and may not reflect immediate changes or local microclimates.
