4. Setup Instructions
4.1 Unfolding the Tripod
- Hold the tripod firmly and release the leg locks.
- Extend each leg section by twisting the leg locks counter-clockwise to loosen, pulling the section out, and then twisting clockwise to secure.
- Adjust the leg angles by pressing the angle adjustment buckle at the top of each leg and setting it to one of the three available positions (22°, 52°, 82°).
- For compact storage, the legs can be reverse-folded 180 degrees around the center column.

4.2 Attaching the Ball Head and Camera
- Ensure the ball head (BG40) is securely screwed onto the tripod's center column mounting plate.
- Attach the Arca-Swiss quick release plate to the bottom of your camera using the 1/4"-20 screw.
- Open the quick release clamp on the ball head and slide your camera with the attached plate into the clamp. Tighten the clamp securely.

4.3 Adjusting Tripod Height
The tripod offers multiple height adjustments:
- Leg Sections: Extend or retract the leg sections using the twist locks.
- Center Column: Loosen the center column lock knob, raise or lower the center column to the desired height, and then tighten the knob.
- Low-Angle Shooting: The center column can be removed for extremely low-angle shots. To do this, fully extend the center column, unscrew it from the tripod base, and then mount the ball head directly onto the tripod spider.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Using the Ball Head (BG40)
The BG40 ball head provides flexible camera positioning:
- Ball Lock Knob: Loosen this knob to adjust the camera's angle (tilt and swivel). Tighten to secure the camera in position.
- Pan Lock Knob: Loosen this knob to rotate the camera 360 degrees horizontally without affecting the tilt. Tighten to lock the panning movement.
- Vertical Slot: For vertical (portrait) orientation, tilt the camera into the 90-degree vertical slot and secure the ball lock knob.

5.2 Enhancing Stability
For increased stability, especially in windy conditions or with heavier camera setups (within the 6kg limit):
- Carabiner Hook: Utilize the carabiner hook located at the bottom of the center column. Hang a weight (e.g., your camera bag) from this hook to lower the center of gravity and improve stability.

5.3 Versatile Shooting Modes
The AM-5C tripod supports various shooting configurations:
- Standard Setup: For general photography and videography.
- Low-Angle Shots: Remove the center column and mount the ball head directly to the tripod spider for ground-level perspectives.
- Extended Center Column: Maximize height by fully extending the center column.
- Center Column Selfie Mode: The removable center column can be used independently as a monopod or selfie stick.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: After use, especially in dusty or sandy environments, wipe down the tripod legs and ball head with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Lubrication: Periodically check the leg locks and ball head mechanisms. If movement becomes stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant. Do not over-lubricate.
- Storage: Store the tripod in its portable bag in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws, joints, and moving parts for any signs of wear or damage. Use the provided Allen key to tighten any loose screws.
7. Troubleshooting
- Q: The tripod feels wobbly when fully extended.
- A: Ensure all leg locks are fully tightened. Avoid over-extending the thinnest leg sections if maximum stability is required. Consider using the carabiner hook to add weight for improved stability, especially with heavier camera setups or in windy conditions.
- Q: The ball head movement is stiff or difficult to adjust.
- A: Check if the ball lock knob is fully loosened. If the issue persists, clean the ball head mechanism and apply a small amount of silicone lubricant as described in the maintenance section.
- Q: My camera setup exceeds 6kg (13.2lb).
- A: The AM-5C is optimized for travel-friendly loads up to 6kg. Using equipment exceeding this limit may compromise stability and potentially damage the tripod or your gear. For heavier setups, consider a tripod with a higher load capacity, such as the SIRUI AM-324+AM-40 Series Tripod.
