1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CSCPEXCZ MC616 Digital Multimeter. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and safety.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: To avoid electric shock or personal injury, read and understand all safety information before using this multimeter.
- Always ensure the test leads are in good condition and properly connected.
- Do not apply voltage or current that exceeds the maximum specified limits for the multimeter.
- Never use the multimeter if it appears damaged or if the case is open.
- Exercise extreme caution when working with voltages above 30V AC RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These voltages pose a shock hazard.
- Replace the batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears to ensure accurate readings.
- Do not operate the multimeter in explosive gas, vapor, or dusty environments.
- Always disconnect the test leads from the circuit before changing functions.

4. Setup
Battery Installation
The MC616 Digital Multimeter requires 3 AAA batteries (not included) for operation. Follow these steps to install the batteries:
- Ensure the multimeter is turned off and disconnect all test leads.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the multimeter.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw(s) securing the battery cover.
- Remove the battery cover.
- Insert 3 AAA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw(s) securely.
Note: Remove batteries if the multimeter is not used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
5. Operating Instructions
Before any measurement, ensure the correct function is selected on the rotary switch and test leads are connected to the appropriate input jacks.
Input Jacks:
- COM Jack: Common input for all measurements. Connect the black test lead here.
- VΩmA Jack: Input for voltage, resistance, diode, continuity, and small current measurements. Connect the red test lead here.
- 10A Jack: Input for large DC current measurements (up to 10A). Connect the red test lead here for current measurements exceeding 200mA.
Rotary Switch Functions:
- OFF: Turns the multimeter off.
- V~ (AC Voltage): Measures alternating current voltage.
- V- (DC Voltage): Measures direct current voltage.
- A- (DC Current): Measures direct current. Use the 10A jack for higher currents.
- Ω (Resistance): Measures electrical resistance.
- Diode/Continuity: Tests diodes and checks for circuit continuity (audible beep for continuity).
- hFE: Measures the DC current gain of transistors.
- NCV (Non-Contact Voltage): Detects AC voltage without direct contact.
Button Functions:
- HOLD: Freezes the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
- Backlight: Activates the display backlight for better visibility in low-light conditions.
- Flashlight: Turns on the integrated flashlight.
6. Maintenance
Cleaning:
Wipe the case with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Keep the input terminals free from dirt and moisture.
Battery Replacement:
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the "Battery Installation" section (Section 4).
Fuse Replacement:
The multimeter is equipped with internal fuses for protection. If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement. Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel. Refer to the specifications for fuse type and rating.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Display/Power: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
- Incorrect Readings: Verify the correct function is selected, test leads are properly connected, and the circuit is within the multimeter's measurement range. Check battery level.
- Current Measurement Not Working: Check the fuse. Ensure the red test lead is connected to the correct current input jack (mA or 10A).
- Continuity Test Not Beeping: Ensure the circuit is complete and resistance is low enough to trigger the continuity buzzer.
