4. Setup and Foam Customization
The HC-5030 case comes with pre-cut, customizable foam inserts to secure your equipment. Follow these steps to create a custom fit:
- Prepare Your Items: Lay out all items you intend to store in the case on a flat surface. Arrange them as you would like them to sit inside the case, ensuring a minimum distance of 0.4 inches (1 cm) between items.
- Measure Your Layout: Measure the length, width, and height of your arranged items. The height of the tallest item should be equal to or less than 14 inches (35.5 cm) to fit within the case's base depth.
- Assess Foam Dimensions: The usable foam area (pluckable area) is 18.1 inches (46 cm) in length and 14.6 inches (37 cm) in width. The foam consists of 31 squares per row and 25 squares per column, with each square measuring 0.58 inches (1.48 cm) in length.
- Customize the Foam: The foam layers are designed for easy customization. Gently tear out the pre-cut foam squares around the outline of your items. Remove only the necessary foam to create a snug fit. The case includes multiple layers of pluckable foam and a protective sponge layer for the lid.

5. Operation
5.1 Opening and Closing the Case
To open the case, release all four latches by pulling them outwards and upwards. To close, align the lid with the base and firmly press down on each latch until it clicks securely into place. Ensure all latches are fully engaged to maintain the watertight seal.
5.2 Using the Automatic Air Pressure Valve
The automatic air pressure valve is designed to equalize the internal pressure of the case with the external atmospheric pressure. This is particularly useful when traveling by air or changing altitudes, preventing vacuum lock or pressure buildup. The valve operates automatically and does not require manual adjustment.
5.3 Securing Your Case
For added security, you can attach padlocks to the reinforced padlock holes located on the front of the case. The holes have a diameter of 0.3 inches (0.75 cm).
6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and protective capabilities of your Lykus HC-5030 case.
- Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the case with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the polypropylene resin.
- Seal Inspection: Periodically inspect the rubber gasket around the lid for any signs of wear, cracks, or debris. A clean, intact gasket is crucial for maintaining the watertight seal.
- Foam Care: The foam inserts can be gently cleaned with a damp cloth if necessary. Allow them to air dry completely before placing them back in the case.
- Storage: Store the case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use.
7. Troubleshooting
- Difficulty Opening/Closing Latches: Ensure no debris is obstructing the latches. If the case has been exposed to significant pressure changes (e.g., air travel), the automatic pressure equalization valve should resolve this. If not, gently press the valve to release any residual pressure.
- Water or Dust Ingress: Check the rubber gasket for damage or debris. Ensure all four latches are fully and evenly engaged when closing the case.
- Foam Not Fitting Items: Re-evaluate your item arrangement and foam customization. Ensure you have removed enough foam for a snug fit without compressing items excessively. Refer to the 'Setup and Foam Customization' section for detailed guidance.
