Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio.
- Slide the battery pack upwards until it clicks securely into place.
- To remove, press the release latch (usually at the bottom of the battery) and slide the battery downwards.
2. Charging the Battery
The UV-5R Plus supports both desktop cradle charging and direct USB-C charging.

- Desktop Cradle Charging: Place the radio (with battery installed) into the charging cradle. Ensure the charging contacts align. The indicator light on the cradle will show charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for complete).
- USB-C Direct Charging: Connect a USB-C cable to the Type C charging port on the side of the radio and to a compatible USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer, power bank, car charger). The radio's screen or indicator may show charging status.
A full charge typically takes several hours. Do not overcharge the battery.
3. Attaching the Antenna
Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
Operating
1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
Rotate the Power/Volume switch (04) clockwise to turn the radio on and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and turn the radio off.
2. Frequency and Channel Modes
The radio operates in two main modes: Frequency Mode (VFO) and Channel Mode (Memory). Press the F+ Button 3 on the keypad to switch between these modes.
- Frequency Mode (VFO): Allows direct input of frequencies for transmission and reception.
- Channel Mode (Memory): Uses pre-programmed channels. The UV-5R Plus supports up to 200 memory channels.

3. Wireless Frequency Copy
The UV-5R Plus features a wireless frequency copy function, allowing it to replicate frequencies from other compatible radios (e.g., Quansheng UV-K6/UV-K5/UV-K5(8)).

4. NOAA Weather Forecast
The radio can receive 10 USA NOAA weather forecast channels. Access this feature through the menu to stay informed about local weather conditions.
5. FM Radio
The UV-5R Plus includes an FM radio function (76.000-108.000MHz). Activate this feature via the menu to listen to broadcast FM stations.
6. Emergency Alert
The radio is equipped with an auto/manual emergency alert feature. Consult the menu settings to configure and activate this function for safety in critical situations.
7. VOX (Voice Operated Transmission)
VOX allows for hands-free transmission. When enabled, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. Adjust VOX sensitivity in the menu.
