Setup
1. Battery Installation
The BAOFENG UV-17H uses a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. To install the battery:
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Align the battery pack with the battery compartment on the back of the radio.
- Gently slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
- To remove, press the battery release latch (if present) and slide the battery out.
2. Charging the Battery
The UV-17H supports convenient USB-C charging. There are two primary methods for charging:
- Using the Charger Dock: Place the radio with the battery installed into the provided charger dock. Connect the AC adapter to the dock and a power outlet. The indicator light on the dock will show charging status.

3. Attaching the Antenna and Belt Clip
- Antenna: Screw the high-gain antenna clockwise onto the connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
- Belt Clip: Use the provided screwdriver to attach the belt clip to the designated screw holes on the back of the radio.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Control
- Power On: Rotate the power/volume knob (located at the top of the radio) clockwise until you hear a click. The LCD screen will illuminate.
- Power Off: Rotate the power/volume knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click and the screen turns off.
- Volume Adjustment: Continue rotating the power/volume knob clockwise to increase volume, and counter-clockwise to decrease volume.
2. Channel Selection and Frequency Mode
The UV-17H supports 999 memory channels and direct frequency input.
- Channel Mode: Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through programmed channels.
- Frequency Mode: Enter frequencies directly using the numeric keypad. Press the appropriate function key to switch between Channel and Frequency modes.
3. Dual Watch and Dual Standby
