1. Introduction
The BAOFENG UV-17H is a high-performance GPS walkie talkie designed for reliable communication in various environments. It features a 1.77-inch color screen, 999 memory channels, and advanced functionalities like GPS, NOAA weather alerts, and USB-C charging. 2. Setup
2.1 Unboxing and Components
Carefully unpack your BAOFENG UV-17H and ensure all components are present:
- 1x Radio Unit
- 1x USB-C Charging Battery
- 1x High Gain Antenna
- 1x Charger Dock
- 1x Belt Clip
- 1x Strap
- 1x USB-C Cable
- 1x Screwdriver
- 1x 771 Antenna

2.2 Battery Installation and Charging
- Align the battery pack with the grooves on the back of the radio and slide it into place until it clicks securely.
- To charge, connect the USB-C cable to the radio's USB-C port or place the radio in the charging dock. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB power source. The charging indicator will illuminate.
- A full charge typically takes several hours. Disconnect the charger once the indicator shows a full charge.
2.3 Antenna Attachment
Screw the provided 771 antenna clockwise onto the antenna connector on top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Power On/Off
To power on the radio, rotate the power/volume knob clockwise until you hear a click. To power off, rotate it counter-clockwise until it clicks.
3.2 Channel Selection (999 Channels)
The UV-17H supports up to 999 memory channels. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through channels. You can also directly input a channel number using the keypad.

3.3 Frequency Setting and Wireless Copy
The radio allows for direct frequency input. It also features a 'Wireless Copy Frequency' or 'One Key Match Frequency' function to quickly synchronize with another radio's frequency.
- Step 1: Power on your walkie talkie. Press the designated button (often a side key or menu option) to enter 'SEEK' or 'SEARCH' mode. The display will show 'SEEK'.
- Step 2: Press and hold the transmit button on the other walkie talkie. Your UV-17H will search for its transmitting frequency. Once found, press 'MENU' to confirm.
- Step 3: Switch to Channel Mode. The display will show the other person's frequency, and you can begin communicating.

3.4 GPS Functionality
The integrated GPS allows you to obtain location information, enhancing coordination efficiency, especially in outdoor or remote areas.

3.5 NOAA Weather Channels and Alerts
