4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation and Charging

1. Align the battery with the compartment on the back of the radio.
2. Slide the battery into place until it clicks securely.
3. To charge, connect the USB-C cable to the radio's Type-C port or place the radio in the charger dock. Connect the USB-C cable to a compatible power source. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

4.2 Antenna Attachment

1. Screw the desired antenna (High Gain or Foldable Tactical Antenna) clockwise onto the antenna connector at the top of the radio until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

• To power on, rotate the power/volume knob clockwise.
• To power off, rotate the power/volume knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
• Adjust the volume by rotating the same knob.

• Alternatively, directly input the channel number using the numeric keypad.

5.9 Wireless Copy Frequency

1. Step 1: Power on your BAOFENG UV-17H radio. Press the designated button (often labeled 'Seek' or similar) to enter frequency search mode. The display will show 'SEEK'.
2. Step 2: Press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the other radio you wish to copy the frequency from. Your UV-17H will search for the transmitting frequency. Once found, press the 'MENU' button to confirm and save the frequency.
3. Step 3: Switch your radio to Channel Mode. The display will now show the other person's frequency, and you can begin communicating.
