SITERWELL Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector User Manual

Model: B0D83KNNG4

Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your SITERWELL Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and retain it for future reference. This device is designed to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide, providing early warning of potential hazards in your home.

Important Safety Information

WARNING:

This unit is designed to detect smoke and carbon monoxide. It is not designed to detect fire, heat, or other gases. It will only indicate the presence of smoke or carbon monoxide at the sensor. Smoke and carbon monoxide may be present in other areas.

  • Do not paint the detector. Paint can clog the openings and interfere with the sensor's ability to detect smoke or CO.
  • Do not install in areas with high humidity, extreme temperatures, or excessive dust.
  • Test the detector weekly to ensure proper operation.
  • Never ignore any alarm. Investigate the cause and take appropriate action.
  • This device is not a substitute for property, disability, life, or other insurance of any kind.

Setup and Installation

Choosing a Location

For optimal protection, install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in the following locations:

  • Inside every sleeping room.
  • Outside each separate sleeping area, in the immediate vicinity of the bedrooms.
  • On every level of a home, including the basement.
  • Consider installing in living rooms, hallways, and kitchens.
  • For carbon monoxide detection, place the unit at least 5 feet from fuel-burning appliances.

Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Mounting Location: Select a suitable location on a ceiling or wall, away from corners, vents, and obstructions.
  2. Mount the Bracket: Use the included screws and wall plugs to securely attach the mounting bracket to the chosen surface.
  3. Attach the Detector: Align the detector with the mounting bracket and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. This action automatically activates the device.
  4. Test the Detector: After installation, press and hold the Test/Silence button to ensure the alarm sounds and the voice alerts function correctly.

Wireless Interconnection

To interconnect multiple SITERWELL detectors (up to 18 units):

  1. Ensure all units are powered on.
  2. On one unit (the master unit), press the Test/Silence button three times quickly. The unit will emit a confirmation sound.
  3. Within 60 seconds, press the Test/Silence button twice quickly on each additional unit you wish to interconnect. Each unit will confirm successful pairing.
  4. Test the interconnection by triggering an alarm on one unit. All interconnected units should sound the alarm.

Operating Instructions

Normal Operation

During normal operation, the green LED indicator will flash approximately every 40 seconds, indicating the unit is powered and functioning correctly.

Testing the Detector

It is recommended to test your detector weekly:

  • Press and hold the Test/Silence button for at least 3 seconds.
  • The alarm will sound, and the voice alert will announce "Fire!" and "Warning, carbon monoxide!" (or French equivalent).
  • Release the button. The alarm will stop.

Silence/Hush Mode

If a nuisance alarm occurs (e.g., from cooking smoke), you can temporarily silence the alarm:

  • Press the Test/Silence button once.
  • The alarm will enter silence mode for approximately 10 minutes for smoke alarms or 5 minutes for CO alarms.
  • The red LED will flash every 5 seconds during silence mode.
  • If the smoke or CO concentration remains high after the silence period, the alarm will reactivate.

Do Not Disturb Mode (for low battery/fault)

When the detector signals a low battery or fault (yellow LED flashing and chirping), you can activate a "Do Not Disturb" mode:

  • Press the Test/Silence button once when a low battery or fault chirp occurs.
  • This will silence the chirping for approximately 10 hours, preventing disturbances, especially at night.
  • The yellow LED will continue to flash, indicating the underlying issue. The unit must be replaced soon.
