1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1. Battery Installation and Charging

Insert the supplied rechargeable lithium-ion battery into the battery compartment located at the bottom of the camera. Ensure it clicks into place. To charge the battery, connect the camera to the AC adapter using the supplied USB-C cable. The charging indicator will illuminate during charging.

3.2. Memory Card Insertion

Open the memory card slot cover, typically located near the battery compartment. Insert a compatible SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks. Close the cover securely.

3.3. Initial Settings

Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the date, time, and time zone. Follow the on-screen instructions using the camera's control buttons and dial.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1. Basic Controls

4.2. Shooting Modes

The LUMIX FZ80D offers a variety of shooting modes, including:

• Intelligent Auto (iA): Automatically optimizes settings for the scene.
• Program AE (P): Camera sets aperture and shutter speed, but allows exposure compensation.
• Aperture Priority AE (A): You set the aperture, camera sets shutter speed.
• Shutter Priority AE (S): You set the shutter speed, camera sets aperture.
• Manual Exposure (M): You control both aperture and shutter speed.
• Scene Modes (SCN): Pre-set modes for specific situations (e.g., Portrait, Landscape, Sports).

4.3. Optical Zoom

The camera features a powerful 60X optical zoom lens, equivalent to 20-1200mm in 35mm format. Use the zoom lever around the shutter button to adjust the focal length. This allows for capturing wide-angle shots and extreme telephoto images.

4.4. Focusing

The FZ80D utilizes Contrast Detection Autofocus with 39 autofocus points. You can select different AF modes (e.g., Single AF, Continuous AF). The camera also features Post Focus, allowing you to change the focus point after the photo has been taken. This is particularly useful for macro photography or scenes where precise focus is critical.

4.5. 4K Photo and Video

The camera supports 4K video recording (3840p) and 4K Photo mode. 4K Photo allows you to extract an 8-megapixel still image from a 4K video sequence, ensuring you never miss a moment of fast-paced action.

4.6. Power Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.)

The built-in Power O.I.S. effectively suppresses hand-shake vibration, especially crucial when shooting at longer focal lengths or in low light conditions, resulting in sharper images and smoother videos.

4.7. Macro Shooting

4.8. Using the Viewfinder
