Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Turn the rotary switch to the desired measurement function.
- Connect the test leads to the circuit or component being measured.
- Read the measurement value on the LCD display.
- Use the "HOLD" button to freeze the current reading on the display.
- Use the "MAX" button to display the maximum value recorded during a measurement session.
Measurement Modes
- DC Voltage Measurement: Set the rotary switch to the "V=" range. Connect the test leads in parallel to the DC voltage source.
- AC Voltage Measurement: Set the rotary switch to the "V~" range. Connect the test leads in parallel to the AC voltage source.
- DC Current Measurement: Set the rotary switch to the "A=" or "mA=" range. Connect the meter in series with the circuit. Ensure the correct input jack (10A or mA) is used.
- Resistance Measurement: Set the rotary switch to the "Ω" range. Connect the test leads across the component to measure its resistance. Ensure the circuit is de-energized.
- Diode Test: Set the rotary switch to the diode symbol. Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode of the diode. The display will show the forward voltage drop.
- Continuity Test: Set the rotary switch to the continuity symbol. Connect the test leads across the circuit or component. An audible buzzer will sound if continuity is detected (resistance below approximately 50Ω).
Maintenance
Cleaning
- Regularly clean the multimeter casing with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Keep the test leads and input jacks free from dust and debris.
Battery Replacement
- When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the 9V battery promptly to ensure accurate measurements.
- Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the "Setup Guide" section.
Fuse Replacement
- The multimeter is equipped with internal fuses for protection. If the current measurement function fails, the fuse may need replacement.
- Refer to the warning label on the back of the device for fuse specifications (e.g., F 250mA/250V and F 10A/250V).
- Fuse replacement should only be performed by qualified personnel.
Troubleshooting
- No Display / Power On:
- Check if the battery is installed correctly and has sufficient charge. Replace the battery if necessary.
- Ensure the rotary switch is turned to an ON position.
- Incorrect Readings:
- Verify that the test leads are properly connected to the correct input jacks and the circuit.
- Ensure the rotary switch is set to the appropriate measurement function and range.
- Check for a low battery indicator; a weak battery can affect accuracy.
- No Continuity Beep:
- Ensure the rotary switch is set to the continuity test function.
- Check if the circuit or component has high resistance, preventing the beep.
- Current Measurement Not Working:
- Check if the fuse for current measurement has blown. Refer to the maintenance section for fuse replacement.
- Ensure the red test lead is connected to the "10A" or "mA" input jack as required.
