5. Setup
5.1 Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert 4 × 1.5V AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Initial Power On
Press the POWER button to turn on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate, and the device will perform a self-test before displaying the current environmental temperature and humidity.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Taking a Measurement
- Remove the protective cover from the probes.
- Ensure the device is powered on.
- Carefully insert the metal probes into the material to be measured (wood, cardboard, etc.). Ensure both probes penetrate the material sufficiently for accurate contact.
- The moisture content percentage will be displayed on the LCD screen.
- After measurement, withdraw the probes and replace the protective cover.
6.2 Wood Species Selection
The PM6811 offers four wood species types to improve measurement accuracy for different wood densities.
- Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the four wood species types (indicated by an icon or number on the display).
- Refer to the device's internal calibration or a separate wood species chart for guidance on which type corresponds to your specific wood material.
6.3 Data Hold Function
To freeze the current reading on the display:
- Press the HOLD button during measurement. The "HOLD" icon will appear on the screen.
- Press the HOLD button again to release the data hold and resume live readings.
6.4 Backlight Control
The backlight improves visibility in low-light conditions.
- Press the MODE button briefly to turn the backlight ON or OFF.
- The backlight will automatically turn off after approximately 15 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery power.
6.5 Temperature Unit Switch (°C/°F)
To switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit for temperature readings:
- Press the °F/°C button to toggle the temperature unit.
6.6 Automatic Shutdown
The device is equipped with an automatic shutdown feature to save battery life. If no action is performed within 5 minutes, the meter will power off automatically.
- To disable auto-off: While the device is OFF, press and hold the HOLD button, then press the POWER button simultaneously until "OFF" or a similar indicator appears, signifying auto-off is disabled. Repeat the process to re-enable.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the meter in a cool, dry place with the protective probe cover in place.
- Probe Care: Keep the probes clean and free from debris. If they become bent or damaged, they may affect measurement accuracy.
