3. Setup & Installation

The Mont Alpi MAi805-DBEV Outdoor Kitchen Island arrives largely pre-assembled, requiring modular attachment and connection of utilities. Professional installation is recommended for gas and electrical connections.

3.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully unpack all components and inspect for any shipping damage.
  • Choose a level, stable outdoor location away from combustible materials. Ensure adequate clearance around the grill for safety and ventilation.
  • Position the modular units (grill, side burner, refrigerator/sink) as desired and secure them together according to the provided hardware.

3.2 Gas Connection

  • The grill comes ready for propane (LP) use with a hose and regulator. Connect the regulator to a standard 20 lb (or larger) propane tank.
  • Natural Gas Conversion: The grill is convertible to natural gas (NG). All necessary orifices are pre-installed. To convert, remove the propane orifices from each burner and use the natural gas hose and regulator from the optional Mont Alpi Natural Gas Conversion Kit (sold separately). This conversion should be performed by a qualified gas technician.
  • Perform a leak test on all gas connections using a soap and water solution before initial use.

3.3 Electrical Connections

  • The grill and refrigerator require 110V power. Utilize the strategically placed access holes at the back of the island for power cords.
  • Connect the grill's power cord for the rotisserie motor, internal lights, and LED knob lights.
  • Connect the refrigerator's power cord.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are to a grounded outlet and protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).

3.4 Water Connection (Sink)

  • Connect the faucet to a cold water supply line using appropriate plumbing fittings.
  • Connect the sink drain to a suitable drainage system.
  • Check for leaks after connecting water lines.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Grill Operation

  • Pre-heating: Open the grill hood. Turn on the gas supply. Push and turn a control knob to the HIGH position. Press the electronic ignition button until the burner ignites. Repeat for desired burners. Close the hood and allow the grill to preheat for 10-15 minutes.
  • Temperature Control: Adjust burner knobs between HIGH and LOW settings to achieve desired cooking temperature. The integrated thermometer in the hood provides temperature readings.
  • Internal Lights: Activate the internal halogen cooking lights for better visibility during evening use.
  • LED Knobs: Knobs illuminate blue when off and red when on, indicating active burners.

4.2 Infrared Side Burner

  • Open the side burner lid. Turn the side burner control knob to HIGH and press the ignition button.
  • Use for searing, pan frying, or boiling. The side burner features two grate settings for different cooking needs.
  • When not in use, ensure the cover is flush with the side shelf for a usable flat surface.

4.3 Rotisserie System

  • Attach the rotisserie rod and forks to the motor. Secure meat onto the rotisserie rod.
  • Position the rotisserie assembly over the grill.
  • Turn on the rear infrared rotisserie burner and activate the rotisserie motor.
  • Ensure a drip pan is placed underneath the meat to catch juices and prevent flare-ups.

4.4 Refrigerator

  • Plug in the refrigerator to a 110V GFCI outlet.
  • Adjust the temperature control knob inside the unit to your desired cooling level (35°F to 67°F).
  • Utilize the adjustable shelves for optimal storage of beverages.
  • The door can be locked for security.

4.5 Sink and Faucet

  • Turn on the water supply to the faucet.
  • Use the sink for washing hands, cleaning utensils, or preparing food.
  • Ensure the drain is clear to prevent blockages.

5. Maintenance & Cleaning

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your outdoor kitchen.

5.1 General Cleaning

  • Stainless Steel Surfaces: Clean with a soft cloth and a stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain to prevent scratching. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Granite Countertops: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or acidic cleaners that can damage the granite.
  • Cooking Grids: Clean after each use with a grill brush while the grill is still warm. For stubborn residue, soak in warm, soapy water and scrub.
  • Grease Tray: Regularly remove and empty the full front pull-out grease tray. Clean with warm, soapy water.
  • Sink: Clean with mild dish soap and water. Rinse thoroughly.

5.2 Seasonal Maintenance

  • Burners: Periodically inspect burner ports for blockages (e.g., spider webs, food debris). Clean with a wire brush or pipe cleaner.
  • Gas Hoses & Connections: Inspect hoses for cracks, cuts, or excessive wear. Check all gas connections for leaks annually.
  • Weather Cover: Use the provided weather-resistant cover when the outdoor kitchen is not in use, especially during inclement weather or off-season storage, to protect it from the elements.
