3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Before You Begin

• Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. This camera does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
• Download the Imou Life App from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
• Prepare a Micro SD card (up to 512GB, not included) if local storage is desired.

3.2 Physical Installation

1. Choose a Location: Select an outdoor location that provides the desired viewing angle and is within range of your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The camera is IP67 weatherproof and can withstand temperatures from -30°C to 50°C.
2. Mount the Camera: Use appropriate screws and anchors to securely mount the camera to a wall or ceiling. Adjust the camera angle as needed.
3. Connect Power: Plug the camera into a power outlet using the provided power adapter. The camera features a waterproof plug with a 3-meter power cord for outdoor use.

3.3 Network Connection and App Pairing

1. Power On: Once powered, the camera's indicator light will flash, indicating it's ready for setup.
2. Open Imou Life App: Launch the Imou Life App on your smartphone. Create an account or log in.
3. Add Device: Tap the '+' icon in the app to add a new device. Scan the QR code located on the camera or its packaging.
4. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the in-app instructions to connect the camera to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. The camera supports Wi-Fi 6 for enhanced performance.
5. Soft AP Mode / Reset: If you encounter issues, the camera supports Soft AP mode for initial setup. A reset button is available on the camera (refer to Figure 3) to restore factory settings if needed. Note that the Soft AP mode is primarily for initial connection and may become inactive once connected to the internet.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Live View and Remote Access

Access real-time video from your camera anywhere using the Imou Life App. Multiple account sharing allows you to share access with family members.

4.2 Recording and Storage

The camera supports 24/7 continuous recording. You have several storage options:

• Micro SD Card: Insert a Micro SD card (up to 512GB) into the designated slot for local storage.
• Network Video Recorder (NVR): Connect the camera to a compatible NVR for extended storage and management.
• Cloud Storage: Utilize Imou Cloud Storage for secure, off-site recording (subscription may be required).

4.3 Human Detection and Notifications

The camera's AI human detection feature accurately identifies human movement, reducing false alarms from pets or other non-human objects. You will receive real-time alerts and notifications on your smartphone via the Imou Life App.

4.4 Day and Night Vision

4.6 Alexa Integration

The Imou DK3 camera is compatible with Amazon Alexa. You can use voice commands to view the camera feed on compatible devices like Echo Show.

• Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lens and housing with a soft, damp cloth to ensure clear image quality. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
• Environmental Protection: The IP67 rating ensures protection against dust and water immersion. However, avoid directing high-pressure water jets directly at the camera.
• Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Imou Life App for available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.

• Camera not connecting to Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz. The camera does not support 5GHz networks.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi signal strength at the camera's location.
  • Try resetting the camera using the reset button (Figure 3) and re-pairing it through the Imou Life App.
• False alarms from motion detection:
  • Ensure AI Human Detection is enabled in the Imou Life App settings.
  • Adjust the motion detection sensitivity settings within the app.
• Cannot access SD card recordings:
  • Recordings on the Micro SD card are encrypted and can only be accessed and viewed through the Imou Life App.
  • Ensure the camera has a stable internet connection to allow the app to communicate with it and retrieve recordings.
• Incorrect date/time after power outage:
  • If the camera loses power, its internal clock may reset. Ensure the camera reconnects to the internet after power restoration. The Imou Life App should automatically synchronize the correct date and time.
• No web interface or issues with third-party Onvif access:
  • The Imou DK3 camera does not provide a direct web interface for configuration. All settings are managed via the Imou Life App.
  • While Onvif is supported for live view with some third-party applications, advanced configurations or password changes for Onvif may be limited to Imou/Dahua software.
