4.2 Assembling the Tripod and Timer

  1. Unfold the tripod legs and adjust them to a stable position.
  2. Extend the tripod's central column to the desired height. Secure it using the thumbwheel locking mechanism.
  3. Carefully screw the GAN XIN Wireless Radar Laser Timer unit onto the 1/4" screw mount at the top of the tripod. Ensure it is securely fastened but do not overtighten.

4.3 Positioning the Timer

Place the assembled timer in the desired location for your activity. Ensure the laser path is clear and unobstructed between the emitter and receiver. The obstruction indicator light will turn green when the path is clear and blue when blocked. For optimal performance, position the timer at a height that allows the laser to detect the subject accurately.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Locate the power switch on the side of the timer unit (refer to Image 3.3). Slide the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the device. Slide it to 'OFF' to power down.

The timer is designed to start when the laser beam is broken and stop when it is broken again (or based on specific mode settings). The display will show the elapsed time.

5.3 Menu Navigation and Settings

The timer unit features several buttons for navigation and setting adjustments:

  • Menu: Accesses different operating modes and settings.
  • DIST (Distance): Likely used for setting or displaying distance parameters in certain modes.
  • Rate: May be used to adjust the detection rate or display rate information.
  • Add: Used to increment values or add entries in settings.
  • Dec (Decrease): Used to decrement values or remove entries in settings.
  • Enter: Confirms selections or enters a specific mode.

Refer to the on-screen prompts and experiment with button combinations to navigate through the various timing modes (e.g., single lap, multiple laps, interval timing). The specific button sequence for advanced functions may require practice to master.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the timer unit and tripod with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the display or casing.

6.2 Battery Care

To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge the device when the battery indicator is low. If storing the device for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% and recharge every few months to prevent deep discharge.

6.3 Storage

When not in use, store the timer and its components in the provided carrying bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect the charger and attempt to power on. Check the power switch position.
  • Inaccurate timing: Ensure the laser path is clear and unobstructed. Clean the laser emitter and receiver lenses. Verify the timer is stable and not moving during operation.
  • Display not working: Check if the device is powered on. If the display remains blank or shows errors, try restarting the device. If the issue persists, contact support.
  • Difficulty with button functions: Review the operating instructions for specific button sequences. Practice navigating the menu to become familiar with its functions.
  • Obstruction indicator always blue: Check for physical obstructions in the laser path. Ensure the timer is positioned correctly and the environment is suitable for laser detection.
