Model: Z-20

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Genérico Z-20 Portable Electric Rechargeable Battery Chainsaw. This compact and lightweight tool is designed for efficient pruning of branches and various garden tasks. Its powerful motor and sharp blade ensure precise and clean cuts, while the rechargeable battery provides cordless convenience. This manual provides essential information for safe operation, setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and longevity of your chainsaw.

2. Safety Instructions

Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before using the chainsaw. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

2.1 General Safety

  • Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
  • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes.
  • Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.

2.2 Personal Safety

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and sturdy footwear.
  • Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts.
  • Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
  • Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

2.3 Chainsaw Specific Safety

  • Always hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands during operation.
  • Ensure the chain is properly tensioned and lubricated before each use.
  • Be aware of kickback. Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut.
  • Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
  • Never operate the chainsaw above shoulder height.
  • Inspect the area for obstacles such as wires, fences, or other debris before cutting.
  • Remove the battery pack when not in use, before cleaning, or when changing accessories.

5.2 Installing the Chain and Guide Bar

Refer to the diagram on the product for visual guidance. Always wear protective gloves during installation.

  1. Remove the battery from the chainsaw before installation.
  2. Unscrew the threaded nut cover on the side of the chainsaw using the provided wrench.
  3. Carefully place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges are facing the correct direction.
  4. Position the guide bar onto the chainsaw body, aligning the holes.
  5. Replace the threaded nut cover and tighten it by hand.
  6. Adjust the chain tension. The chain should be snug but still able to be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand. There should be a small amount of play (approx. 2-3mm) when pulled away from the guide bar.
  7. Once tension is correct, fully tighten the threaded nut cover with the wrench.

6. Operating Instructions

Always wear protective gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection when operating the chainsaw.

6.1 Starting the Chainsaw

  1. Insert the fully charged battery into the chainsaw until it clicks into place.
  2. Hold the chainsaw firmly with one hand on the main handle and the other on the auxiliary handle (if applicable).
  3. Press and hold the safety lock button (usually located on the handle).
  4. While holding the safety lock button, press the trigger switch to start the chainsaw. Release the safety lock button once the chainsaw is running.

6.2 Cutting Procedure

  1. Before cutting, ensure the area is clear of obstructions and bystanders.
  2. Position the chainsaw with the chain not touching the material to be cut.
  3. Start the chainsaw as described above.
  4. Gently bring the running chain into contact with the branch or wood. Allow the chainsaw to do the work; do not force it.
  5. Maintain a firm grip and stable footing throughout the cut.
  6. Be mindful of the branch's weight and direction of fall to avoid injury or damage.

6.3 Stopping the Chainsaw

Release the trigger switch to stop the chainsaw. The chain will stop rotating quickly. Always remove the battery pack after use.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your chainsaw. Always remove the battery before performing any maintenance.

7.1 Cleaning

  • After each use, clean the chainsaw body with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
  • Remove sawdust, chips, and debris from the guide bar, chain, and motor vents. Use a brush or compressed air if necessary.
  • Ensure the battery contacts are clean and free of debris.

7.2 Chain and Guide Bar Care

  • Chain Sharpening: A sharp chain is crucial for efficient and safe cutting. Sharpen the chain regularly or replace it when dull. Refer to a professional or specific chain sharpening instructions if unsure.
  • Chain Tension: Check chain tension before each use. Adjust as needed to prevent the chain from derailing or binding.
  • Chain Lubrication: Ensure the chain is adequately lubricated. While this model may not have an automatic oiler, manual application of chain oil is recommended for prolonged chain life and smoother operation.
  • Guide Bar Maintenance: Clean the guide bar groove regularly to remove debris. Flip the guide bar periodically to ensure even wear.

7.3 Storage

  • Store the chainsaw in its transport case in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
  • Remove the battery pack before storing for extended periods.
