6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and appearance of your awning.

  • Fabric Cleaning: Clean the awning fabric regularly with mild soap and water. Use a soft brush or sponge. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to air dry completely before retracting. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Frame Cleaning: Wipe down the aluminum and steel frame with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris.
  • Hardware Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, screws, and connections for tightness. Tighten any loose fasteners to ensure stability and safety.
  • Weather Protection: Always retract the awning during strong winds, heavy rain, snow, or other adverse weather conditions to prevent damage.
  • Winter Storage: In areas with harsh winters, it is recommended to keep the awning fully retracted and covered if possible, or consider removing the fabric for storage.

7. Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Awning does not extend or retract smoothly: Check for any obstructions in the path of the arms or fabric. Ensure the hand crank mechanism is clean and free of debris. Lubricate moving parts if necessary with a silicone-based spray.
  • Fabric sags or wrinkles: This may indicate uneven tension. Consult the installation video for instructions on adjusting fabric tension. Ensure the roller and front bar are properly aligned.
  • Awning makes unusual noises: Inspect all connections and moving parts for looseness or wear. Tighten any loose bolts. If noises persist, contact customer support.
  • Water pooling on fabric: Ensure the awning's slope is set correctly to allow for proper water runoff. Adjust the pitch if necessary.
