5. Setup

5.1 Initial Cleaning

  1. Before first use, wash the carafe, carafe lid, and reusable filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.
  3. Run two full cycles with only water (no coffee) to clean the internal components.

5.2 Placement and Space Considerations

Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable surface. Due to its integrated burr grinder, the unit has a height of approximately 16.6 inches (422mm). Standard American home cabinets are typically 18-20 inches from the countertop. To ensure easy access for filling the water tank and bean hopper, it may be necessary to pull the machine forward or rotate it on the countertop, especially if placed directly under a cabinet.

7. Maintenance and Cleaning

7.1 Daily Cleaning

7.2 Grinder Cleaning

Regular cleaning of the burr grinder is essential for optimal performance and flavor. Refer to the product overview for grinder component identification.

  1. Ensure the coffee maker is unplugged and cooled.
  2. Remove the bean hopper lid and any remaining whole beans.
  3. Carefully remove the upper burr grinder component. Use the cleaning brush (if included) to remove any loose coffee grounds from the burrs and the grinding chamber.
  4. Wipe down the inside of the bean hopper with a dry cloth.
  5. Reassemble the grinder components, ensuring they are securely in place.

7.3 Descaling (Monthly or as needed)

Mineral deposits from water can affect performance. Descale your coffee maker regularly:

  1. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water.
  2. Pour the mixture into the water tank.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Run a brew cycle. After about half the mixture has brewed, turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for 30 minutes.
