Setup and First Use

Before First Use

  • Remove all packaging materials, labels, and stickers from the appliances.
  • Wipe the soleplate of the iron and the steamer nozzle with a soft, damp cloth to remove any manufacturing residue.
  • It is recommended to fill the water tanks and run both appliances for a few minutes on an old cloth or in a sink to clear any initial impurities.

Filling the Water Tank (Both Appliances)

  1. Ensure the appliance is unplugged from the electrical outlet.
  2. Open the water fill cap/remove the water tank.
  3. Fill the tank with distilled or demineralized water up to the MAX fill line. Avoid overfilling.
  4. Close the water fill cap securely/re-attach the water tank firmly.

Note: Using tap water may lead to mineral buildup over time, affecting performance. Distilled water is recommended.

Operating the CHI Steam Iron

  1. Prepare the Iron: Ensure the water tank is filled (if using steam) and the iron is placed upright on its heel rest.
  2. Plug In: Extend the retractable 8-foot cord and plug the iron into a standard electrical outlet. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Select Temperature: Turn the temperature control dial to the desired fabric setting (e.g., Silk, Wool, Cotton, Linen). Allow the iron to heat up until the indicator light turns off or changes color, signaling it has reached the set temperature. This typically takes under a minute.
  4. Ironing with Steam: For steam ironing, ensure the temperature setting is within the steam range (usually medium to high settings). Press the steam button or adjust the steam selector to release steam as you iron.
  5. Dry Ironing: For dry ironing, ensure the water tank is empty or the steam function is turned off.
  6. After Use: Unplug the iron and allow it to cool completely before retracting the cord and storing.

Operating the CHI Handheld Garment Steamer

  1. Prepare the Steamer: Ensure the water tank is filled with distilled water and securely attached.
  2. Plug In: Plug the 10-foot cord into a standard electrical outlet. The steamer heats up in seconds.
  3. Select Steam Mode: Press the power button to turn on the steamer. Use the steam mode selector to choose between Normal and MAX steam modes, depending on the fabric and wrinkle severity.
  4. Steaming Garments: Hold the steamer upright, keeping the nozzle a few inches from the fabric. Move the steamer slowly over the garment, allowing the steam to relax the fibers and remove wrinkles. For best results, gently pull the fabric taut with your free hand.
  5. After Use: Press the power button to turn off the steamer and unplug it from the outlet. Allow it to cool completely before emptying any remaining water from the tank and storing.
