1. Introduction

2. Safety Information

• DO NOT EXCEED WEIGHT CAPACITY: The aluminum cargo carrier has a maximum load capacity of 500 lbs. The RV bumper hitch receiver adapter has a maximum tongue weight capacity of 200 lbs. Always adhere to these limits.
• SECURE CARGO: Always use appropriate tie-downs (not included) to secure all cargo to prevent shifting or falling during transit.
• PROPER INSTALLATION: Ensure all bolts, nuts, and pins are securely fastened according to the assembly instructions. Regularly check for tightness before each use.
• VISIBILITY: The cargo carrier is equipped with reflectors for enhanced visibility. Ensure they are clean and unobstructed.

4. Setup & Assembly

Assembly of the MaxxHaul Aluminum Cargo Carrier and Hitch Receiver Adapter requires basic tools (not included) such as wrenches and a screwdriver. Follow the steps below for proper installation.

4.1. Assembling the Cargo Carrier

The cargo carrier arrives in several pieces and requires assembly. Refer to the included manual for specific bolt and nut sizes. The general process involves:

1. Attach the side rails to the main base frame using the provided hardware.
2. Secure the aluminum slats to the frame.
3. Install the red corner accents and reflectors on the carrier.

4.2. Installing the RV Bumper Hitch Receiver Adapter

The hitch receiver adapter is designed to convert a 4"-4.5" RV bumper into a standard 2" x 2" hitch receiver.

1. Position the adapter securely onto your RV bumper.
2. Tighten all bolts and nuts to ensure a firm, stable connection.

4.3. Attaching the Cargo Carrier to the Hitch Receiver

Once both the carrier and adapter are assembled and installed, insert the cargo carrier's shank into the 2-inch hitch receiver. Secure it with the provided hitch pin and clip.

5.1. Loading Cargo

Place items evenly across the carrier's surface. Distribute weight to maintain vehicle balance. Avoid placing all heavy items on one side or at the very end of the carrier.

5.2. Securing Cargo

Utilize the multiple tie-down points on the carrier to firmly secure all items using bungee cords, ratchet straps, or cargo nets. Ensure no items can shift, fall, or obstruct your view or vehicle lights.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and safe operation of your cargo carrier and adapter:

• CLEANING: Clean the aluminum and steel components regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
• INSPECTION: Periodically inspect all bolts, nuts, and welds for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Tighten any loose fasteners.
• STORAGE: When not in use, store the cargo carrier in a dry place to prevent corrosion and prolong its lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

• Wobbling/Rattling: If the carrier wobbles or rattles excessively, ensure the hitch pin is fully inserted and secured. Consider using an anti-rattle hitch device (sold separately) for a more stable connection.
• Difficulty Inserting Hitch Pin: Ensure the carrier shank is fully inserted into the receiver and aligned with the pinholes. Check for any obstructions.
• Corrosion: While the aluminum is rust-resistant and steel components are powder-coated, prolonged exposure to harsh elements can cause wear. Regular cleaning and inspection can mitigate this.
