3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly install your NIVIAN 9W Solar Panel:
- Choose a Location: Select a location that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day. Avoid areas with obstructions like trees or buildings that could cast shadows on the panel. The panel should be positioned at an angle to optimize sun exposure.
- Mount the Bracket: Use the provided screws and wall plugs to securely attach the mounting bracket to a wall or other stable surface. Ensure the bracket is firmly fixed before proceeding.
- Attach the Solar Panel: Connect the solar panel to the mounting bracket. The adjustable bracket allows you to pivot and tilt the panel to achieve the optimal angle for sunlight capture. Secure the panel in place once the desired angle is set.
- Connect to Camera: Plug the USB Type-C connector from the solar panel into your compatible IP security camera. If your camera uses a MicroUSB port, attach the provided MicroUSB adapter to the USB Type-C connector before plugging it into the camera. Ensure the connection is secure and waterproof.

Important Note: This solar panel is designed for battery-powered cameras with DC5V MicroUSB or USB-C power input. It is not compatible with standard IP cameras that do not have an internal battery or require a different power input.
4. Operating Instructions
Once installed and connected, the NIVIAN 9W Solar Panel will automatically begin charging your security camera's battery when exposed to sunlight. The panel's high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon technology ensures effective charging even on days with lower sunlight.
- The panel converts solar energy into electrical power (DC5V) to charge the camera's battery.
- The charging process is automatic and continuous as long as sufficient sunlight is available.
- The 3-meter cable provides flexibility in positioning the solar panel for optimal sun exposure, independent of the camera's location.

5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your solar panel, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the surface of the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, leaves, or other debris that may accumulate. A clean surface ensures maximum sunlight absorption. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
- Connection Check: Regularly inspect the USB Type-C/MicroUSB connection to your camera to ensure it remains secure and free from corrosion or damage.
- Mounting Stability: Verify that the mounting bracket and solar panel remain securely attached to their surface, especially after strong winds or adverse weather conditions.
- Weather Resistance: The panel has an IP65 rating, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. While designed for outdoor use, extreme weather conditions may still impact performance or require inspection.
6. Troubleshooting
If your solar panel is not performing as expected, consider the following:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Camera not charging | Insufficient sunlight | Relocate the solar panel to an area with more direct sunlight. Adjust the panel's angle. |
| Camera not charging | Panel surface is dirty | Clean the solar panel surface with a soft, damp cloth. |
| Camera not charging | Loose or damaged connection | Check the USB Type-C/MicroUSB connection to the camera and the panel. Ensure it is secure and undamaged. |
| Camera not charging | Incompatible camera | Ensure your camera is a battery-powered model compatible with DC5V USB Type-C or MicroUSB input. |
| Panel appears damaged | Physical impact or extreme weather | Inspect the panel for cracks or severe damage. If damaged, contact customer support for assistance. |
